RUSH: I'm using it and I love it. I'm using a beta of the new Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, the new operating system. It's fabulous, Snerdley. The things they've done in the mail app are just fabulous. I tell you what they've done. They've brought so much of the mobile operating system from the iPhone and the iPad over to the computer, it's... (interruption) Oh, no, I have a developer release. I'm an official registered developer out there. I'm one of the testers here. Everything aboveboard. The latest is it's gonna release via the Mac App Store, not DVD. No DVD release. (interruption) Well, it's four gigabytes. It's gonna depend on what your connection speed is, but July 6th, I think, it's out. Did I see July 5th or 6th at noon? It's fabulous. (interruption) Oh, yeah, everything integrates. It's perfecto. Look, I don't want to spend time talking about it now; it's something you have to see. But I'm just telling you I like it. It's a significant increase.
Hey, I always figured that Rush was a homosexual communist who preferred to pay too much for toys rather than get a *real* computer.
Oh, sorry.
;’)
“Rush is a TOOL for Apple.”
What’s your computer tech of preference there, Jmouse?
Why should you care that Rush enjoys a better user experience with Apple?
He is simply showing good taste... ;-)
Anytime...
“who preferred to pay too much for toys rather than get a *real* computer.”
There’s nothing “toylike” about Macs running authentic Unix, as opposed to the house of cards known as “Windows”.
If you really need to, you can run Windows, Linux or other guest operating systems, fully sandboxed to avoid the myriad security concerns, using VM software.
In my experience, the extra money for Apple hardware is more than justified given the excellent system software and bundled apps like iPhoto and Time Machine.
Started out with PC-DOS 1.0. Except for server/host OS’, I’ve run “PC” software almost exclusively, and built a lot of my own computers right up until I bought my first Mac, an iPhone 3GS. One more iDevice and two Macs later, all I can say is: they just work.
If that makes me a fanboi, so be it. I know a guy that’s ready to buy his first computer (outside of a POS system for his store), and I’m gonna take him to the Apple store. Why?
They just work! And this will likely be the only computer he ever owns.
All this proves is that Rush is a liberal /s.
I think you missed the point of the post, PreciousLiberty :-)
I'd rather enrich Apple than empower Google's Android empire.
The Google guys make Gore look almost conservative.
Of course not, they always release the good stuff to certain people, then issue the crap they don’t want to the little people.
What to do with HyperCard? I hated that they killed off that simple but powerful program, but they did. People we move on and because Apple forces us to trash the legacy stuff, we can move quickly to better things.
On the other hand Macs live very long lives, so just don’t upgrade an old computer, or simply make a dual boot system.
I have never tried to make parallels do a Mac in simulation, but that may work as well.
Yes, I must admit that actually I am somewhat bothered by both companies politically.
Rush never will get a paid advertisement from Apple, they hate him. He just loves stuff that works, when it doesn’t he says so. He also raved about iOS 5.
Gotta say I have been running Windows XP on my Mac Pro using VMWare Fusion for three years and it is rock solid. I jump back and forth between the two operating systems instantly and seamlessly. It was an EASY install. Additionally, XP runs faster on my Mac than on my Wintel boxes.

Come to think of it, SunkenCiv is generally speaking pro-Mac isn’t he? lol
Oh well, took the lure and went on a long run...line smoking off the reel.
Maybe someone will get some useful information out of it anyhow.... :-)
I made a Lion partition and cloned my HD to it and will install it there. For now I cannot do without my Rosetta apps like quicken and photoshop elements. So I will be able to boot into whichever partition I want.
I alsO have a windows 7 partition to boot to or run with VMWare.
Does your reply mean that Lion will not run Quicken or some other common applications? That would be a fairly big problem for a lot of people.
If it has to be explained, well, I’m gonna cry myself to sleep.
