Good morning to all.
I thought I would get this thread up bright and early so I could concentrate on work until the trial begins. I believe it starts at 9:00 a.m. today.
The State is presenting its important rebuttal case, which will include two Gentiva representatives, one of which will likely be a custodian of records. That person would need to authenticate Cindy's time sheets, which were subpoenaed. The State plans to admit that evidence to impeach her testimony that it was she, and not Casey, who did the computer searches on chloroform. The chloroform searches go directly to premeditation, a critical element in a death penalty case.
I understand that closing arguments will be heard Saturday (tomorrow) and then the jury will "get deliberated." (I love saying that!)
Time to put on a big pot of coffee...
Just getting here and need a brief..... how’s it going? any noteworthy moments?
Will try to catch up but have missed the whole trial day.
Nothing special except they have some people on the stand proving that Cindy lied about those computer searches..Cindy looks like she is going to puke and Casey looks like she is going to puke too
This has been a devastating day for the defense, absolutely devastating. Then the closing will pull it all together to remove any reasonable doubt, if even is any at this point.
I hope juror #4 just said she didn’t want to judge people because she didn’t want to do jury duty. I heard she has three kids. I pray that she sees the truth like all of us here do.
My sentiments exactly! Who doesn’t call 911 when their child has a swimming accident? Who isn’t out of their minds crazy and tries to get the paramedics immediately? Who doesn’t call for an ambulance? The neighbors heard no distraught screaming? PUHLEEZE!
Bottom line....duct tape...a loving mother would remove the duck tape and attempt to recessitate her child, if it was an accident and she gave her an overdose....and would not re-gag her after not being able to bring her back.
A loving mother would not chloroform her child...
Both of these are what an abusive parent would do.
Doesn’t matter what reasons or how this occured....Casey was an abusive mother...

You would think Baez would realize he is in over his head. But, he’s such a pompous a$$, he probably thinks he’s doing a good job.

I don't know that we'll ever really know for sure. We may know at some point what the real jurors thought.

thanks. Thought I heard him say something about case in jeopardy due to something relating to Miranda rights.

They didn’t read her Miranda at Universal IIRC. But did they arrest her then or just question her further?
Geraldo is in love with Casey, or something else is going on with him..he wanted to put the needle in OJ’s arm but wants to acquit Casey..he is one shady character

I think we agree that if in fact Casey did kill Caylee on purpose, it was to spite/punish/hurt Cindy and/or George.
My problem with all of this is that I'm not sure enough about "the event" to convict Casey of 1st degree, premeditated, death chamber murder. Also, I'm not willing to give the prosecution a "2-for" of child abuse and manslaughter for one event.
I don't know for sure but I think the attorney's asked for more time to prepare for closing arguments on Sunday.
Casey got the whole “She drowned in the pool” story from a fellow cell mate whose own (I believe he was 18 months old at the time) drowned in the family swimming pool and the grandfather found him and we all know how Casey takes bits and pieces of other people’s lives and makes it her own so I think that is what happened here..And I have NEVER heard of anyone, be it a child or an adult, who is found drowning in the pool and NO ONE calls 9-1-1..if its an accident its reported because that person can still be saved..it would be like if someone had a heart attack and collapsed and has no pulse, do you assume they are dead, of course not..they might be able to be saved, maybe yes, maybe no but at least call 9-1-1..and the jury will see that too because everyone has known someone or had a family member who needed paramedics, you just dont sit there and assume they are dead..that is why Casey is going down..its just simple common sense
