Good morning to all.
I thought I would get this thread up bright and early so I could concentrate on work until the trial begins. I believe it starts at 9:00 a.m. today.
The State is presenting its important rebuttal case, which will include two Gentiva representatives, one of which will likely be a custodian of records. That person would need to authenticate Cindy's time sheets, which were subpoenaed. The State plans to admit that evidence to impeach her testimony that it was she, and not Casey, who did the computer searches on chloroform. The chloroform searches go directly to premeditation, a critical element in a death penalty case.
I understand that closing arguments will be heard Saturday (tomorrow) and then the jury will "get deliberated." (I love saying that!)
Time to put on a big pot of coffee...
He has not proved the kid was murdered. That is a big problem. He has proved the Cops Bungled the investigation though.
Thanks for keeping this thread going!!!
I haven't kept up with it as much as others....(although my sister-in-law sure has!!)....
...We've been going through personal medical things since the trial started..
....surgeries for myself and husband.... and have had to stay close to home....
...I would like to go to Orlando and be there when the verdict is read!!!
How many Mulligans will he give Ashton?

It's hard to argue logic with looney, but I will try. Unlike the incompetent Baez, Ashton is doing his job. Like someone else here said yesterday he may feel an obligation to see that justice is done for little Caylee. In any event I don't believe the jury will see his rebuttal as overkill. He is doing a thorough job. Casey will be convicted of murder of her daughter because the defense has proved NOTHING.
Here today, gone tomorrow, here today. The State case is that Casey dumped the body and it remained there until the 2nd time Kronk..perfect name for him...”discovered” it. All their forensics is based on those facts. Ashton has got Big problems.
Not following this thread or the testimony very closely, but wanted to weigh in, as a lawyer, to say that the prosecution is rebutting Defense experts, exhibits and testimony because that is THEIR JOB. It would be malpractice to NOT rebut even the flimsiest case. So it’s folly for anyone to think that the prosecution’s rebuttal means that the defense did a good job. It’s simply how trial work WORKS.
The only ones to believe in this case are the Dogs.
Here are my questions which we will never know unless the jurors are as stupid easily distracted as a few posters on this thread and believe this flimsy defense:
Did Casey really drug her daughter and accidently overdose?
Or, did Casey murder her purposely?
Or, did Caylee drown accidently, or did Casey knowingly put the steps up so Caylee would climb up?
And finally, if no pool was involved, did Casey go home on Tuesday and take a nice relaxing swim with a dead child in her trunk?
Disgusting questions to have in my mind...
Casey is the fruit of the poisoned tree (Cindy). I really believe Cindy is the root cause of all of this. She very well could have ordered George to get close to River in order to “find out more” about the woman, her background, reputation, etc. George being George would have bungled it and it can be argued THIS is the result.
They are replaying Cindy’s computer search testimony right now on WFTV and while I knew she was lying from the get go, hearing it all again I am picking up more and more clues and nuances about exactly who this woman is and how far she will go. And what I’ve learned is there are absolutely NO limits with Cindy. Right now Casey is once again her ONE and ONLY focus. Lee’s testimony about feeling “left out” backs up what I’m about to say.
Cindy Anthony can only “love” ONE child/person at a time. George likely was displaced by Lee; Lee by Casey and Casey had all Cindy’s attention for almost 20 years...until there was Caylee. We can see how dramatic the shift in focus must have been from Caylee’s pictures, video’s, clothes and her toys and her nursery.
Now Caylee is “gone” and Cindy simply shifts all of her focus and drive back onto Casey almost as though Caylee had never been born at all. Casey is again the favored one. Creepy and sick. But yeah...Cindy would tell George to do anything to help Casey and George would likely do it. I hope he’s coming around but I doubt it.
If Cindy Anthony is found to have lied on the witness stand, can she go to jail? Would the prosecution or the court pursue this? Could she plead “I only did it to prevent my daughter from being executed..” and get away with it?
(I can’t believe I even care...long, hot summer!)
Thank you! Yes there are some differing opinions on this thread! lol I think the State told the Judge they would have a rebuttal case last week when Cindy started lying. They knew they had to find her work records. I never felt like they were grasping, just doing the work they are supposed to do. It is nice to hear from an Attorney - thanks!
Much appreciated, although I wasn’t trying to top the other comment! lol
I don’t think Cindy will be prosecuted for perjury but Bill Schaeffer is saying right now on WFTV that he thinks she is “dangerously” close to being prosecuted for it. He has looked at her deposition and compared it to her testimony and it looks real bad to him. He says she was apparently working on behalf of the Defense and it looks pretty clear from the record.
Biaz isn’t that bad. He represented a friend in a jaywalking case once. Got him off with 18 momths!
:)
It would be extremely unlikely for the prosecution NOT to have rebuttal. that is just the structure of a trial— affirmative case, defense case, rebuttal. its the same with an oral argument at the appellate level and it’s how time is apportioned. Any competent attorney would do it, no matter what was said by the defense.
