It would be extremely unlikely for the prosecution NOT to have rebuttal. that is just the structure of a trial— affirmative case, defense case, rebuttal. its the same with an oral argument at the appellate level and it’s how time is apportioned. Any competent attorney would do it, no matter what was said by the defense.
I may be mistaken but the rebuttal seems to be essential in a case, especially a murder trial, as the prosecution bears the greatest burden to prove guilt, yes?
