Whatever You Do Will Prosper

“He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers”
(Psalm 1:3, NIV)

God’s plan is for you to prosper and be successful in every area of your life. Some people might say, “I don’t see how you can say that with the economy like it is. All the experts are saying it’s going to get worse before it gets better.” That may be true in general, but it doesn’t have to be true for believers in Jesus.

We are connected to a supply line that will never run dry. Don’t be talked in to having a bad year. The economy is not your source. God is your source. And God wants to bless you beyond your salary. He wants to bless you beyond your normal income. He likes to do unusual things. He can bless you with what I call an explosive blessing! That means, all of the sudden, unexpectedly, something happens that takes you to a new level. Old limitations are broken, and suddenly, you find yourself further than you ever dreamed!

The key is found in Psalm 1:1–2. We have to separate ourselves from the system of the world and set our heart and mind on the Word of God. When you meditate on His promises and follow His commands, you will experience these explosive blessings. When you put Him first, you will be strong and stable, and whatever you do will prosper!

PRAYER

Father God
thank You for Your Word which lights my path and directs my heart. I submit every area of my life to You and put You first in everything I do. Teach me Your ways so I can walk with You and experience everything You have in store for me.
In Jesus’ Name.
Amen.

Here’s a Groaner For You

The Talking Centipede

A single guy decided life would be more fun if he had a pet.

So he went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an unusual pet. After some discussion, he finally bought a talking centipede, (100-legged bug), which came in a little white box to use for his house. He took the box back home, found a good spot for the box, and decided he would start off by taking his new pet to church with him.

So he asked the centipede in the box, “Would you like to go to church with me today? We will have a good time.” But there was no answer from his new pet. This bothered him a bit, but he waited a few minutes and then asked again, “How about going to church with me
and receive blessings?”

But again,

there was no answer from his new friend and pet. So he waited a few minutes more, thinking about the situation. The guy decided to invite the centipede one last time.

This time he put his face up against the centipede’s house and shouted,

“Hey, in there!

Would you like to go to church with me and learn about God?”

... YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS ...

This time, a little voice came out of the box,

“I heard you the first time! I’m putting on my shoes!”

The act of snapping one’s fingers has a name. It is called a “fillip.”

The word “toast,” meaning a proposal of health, originated in Rome, where an actual bit of spiced, burned bread was dropped into wine to improve the drink’s flavor, absorb its sediment, and thus make it more healthful.

Cinderella’s slipper, many scholars believe, was made of fur, not glass. The word verre, or “glass,” they claim, was incorrectly substituted in early versions of the story for the word vaire. In medieval French, vaire means “fur.”

Too Much Sugar

A fellow nurse at my hospital received a call from an anxious patient.

“I’m diabetic and I’m afraid I’ve had too much sugar today.” the caller said.

“Are you light-headed?” my colleague asked.

“No,” the caller answered, “I’m a brunette.”

Empty Me
July 16, 2011

“What a rotten design,” I grumbled, as I emptied our paper shredder. I was following good advice about shredding personal documents, but I could not empty the container without spilling strips of confetti all over the carpet! One day as I was gathering trash, I debated whether I’d even bother since it was only half-full. But when I slipped a small plastic bag over the top and flipped it upside down, I was pleased to see that not a bit of paper had fallen on the floor.

The error had been mine. I had been waiting until the container was filled to the brim before emptying it!

When we allow sin to fill up our hearts, it too will overflow into our life. Luke 6:45 says that “an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil.” It is “out of the abundance of the heart” that we speak.

What if we were to empty our hearts of the rubbish of sin before it started spilling into our interactions with others? To dispose of our bitterness, stubborn pride, seething anger? (Eph. 4:26-32). First John 1:9 reminds us that “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

A paper shredder is designed to be a rubbish receptacle. You and I are not!

Search me, O God, and know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts I pray.
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free. —Orr

Own up to your sin—you can’t hide it from God anyway!

Read: Ephesians 4:17-32

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. —Luke 6:45

You can’t con God.

Daddy & Me a fishin’

Author: Aimee Vey

Today me and my Daddy are fishing,
Waiting, watching & wishing.
We are waiting for just one bite,
But there’s no fish in sight.
I feel a tug, I see the bobber dip,
Daddy Reels it in before the fish can slip.
I jump up and down,
And of course all around.
I caught my first fish
Daddy & I got our wish!

Thank you for another great devotional, Major,

Psalms 16
King James Version (KJV)

Psalm 16

“1.Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.

2.O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;

3.But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

4.Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.

5.The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

6.The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

7.I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.

8.I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

9.Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

10.For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

11.Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

LOL...good test there, Dubya!

Not many would get the bare minimum for passing! ALTHOUGH, they seem so obvious to most folks! :)
