I hear there is a nice place for them off the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn. Come on home boys, you belong here.

Part of the reason might be that they don’t charge enough for their tickets. Last time I went to Dodger stadium, the tickets were only $65 each (compared to $200 at Fenway, not including parking).

A mere three days before the payroll comes due — payroll that Frank McCourt can’t meet — the Dodgers have filed for bankruptcy, reports Richard Sandomir. With that, the legal game begins.

Obviously the situation is fluid, and more details will stream in as the morning and day progresses, but for the time being, this could buy McCourt some time. Why? because a bankruptcy filing puts a halt on all legal action with respect to the bankruptcy estate (i.e. the Dodgers). McCourt will certainly argue that this will prevent a takeover from Major League Baseball, though the court may decide differently when it gets a chance to weigh in, likely in the next few days.

Certainly one of the biggest reasons for the filing is to prevent MLB from taking over, that and the fact that they cannot meet their payroll. But there are going to be some interesting things happening here since a ch 11 debtor has the right to reject executory contracts. I wonder if there are any players on the team the Dodgers regret signing and cannot trade away.

Ah, this is going to be a great day. It’s a wonderful day when the La Raza Dodgers go belly up and sink to the bottom of the division.

Sweeeeeeet. We always knew you could do it McCourt. Let the wrist slitting begin and the blue blood flow.

Michael Savage quotes a Chinese proverb: Happiness is watching your neighbor fall off his roof.

I’m happy. I’m damn happy. It is very good day. Bye bye Dodger blue. Boo hoo hoo.

LA is now Mexican territory, thanks to the Republicrat/Dumbocan Party, and I don’t think that the current residents of LA care that much for a baseball team made up of a bunch of gringos. If the Dodgers remade themselves as soccer team with Mexican players they wouldn’t have any problem filling the stadium.

Not many people know that the law firm for Frank McCourt scred up the post-nuptual agreement which was supposed to give him sole ownership of the Dodgers and all the real estate to Jamie. Apparently Jamie wanted that arrangement because she thought the Dodgers had some serious liabilities she didn’t want to be liable and the real estate was very valuable; at least it was prior to the real estate bust. That’s when she decided she owned a half interest in the Dodgers.

Frank’s former law firm is scared shitless they are going to get hammered in a lawsuit to be filed against them by Frank, if it hasn’t been filed already.

Here’s the full list of creditors (see above link - it’s a PDF file). List of creditors is about half way into the file. Manny Ramirez is the #1 creditor at almost 21 million dollars. Number of ex-Dodgers on the list.

Not surprised, but I am sad for all my friends who bleed Dodger Blue. Our church, for the first time ever, is having a baseball outing to see the Angels instead of the Dodgers. As Angel fans, we always felt like the oddballs in the group. This year, we feel like hosts who finally persuaded our friends to come to the party.
