CHICAGO (CBS) The teenage robbery mobs are at it again on North Michigan Avenue.
Some 50 young people barged into a Walgreens at Michigan and Chicago on the Magnificent Mile on Tuesday afternoon. They took bottled drinks and sandwiches off the shelves, then ran off, CBS 2′s Suzanne Le Mignot reports.
A police report says authorities were able to nab three of the thieves.
Walgreens says the store is working with police, helping investigators with video from the store security camera.
The Mag Mile earlier this year was hit by similar mobs of young thieves. Attacks on commuters and bicyclists have become violent, and police have stepped up patrols.

Prayers up for this young man.
We are dealing with savages here.
“...even Chi- liberals are fed up and calling it like it is.”
Chalk that up to WHERE this happened, not that it happened. If they’d stayed in their own ‘hoods’ the Chi-libs wouldn’t care, but now they’ve stepped into the libs’ turf on the “Mag Mile.”
The perps turned themselves in when they were caught on camera walking along. Apparently, they’d tried to assault several people earlier without success: http://www.thestate.com/2011/06/24/1871754/jogger-assaulted-in-five-points.html
Again - look at the search criteria. Don't use exact titles...
That’s just a keyword. As far as I understand, if the poster does NOT insert keywords .. AS SO MANY DO NOT DO .. you can’t search by keyword. Just look at all the threads with no keywords.
I add a lot myself every month on those threads which have NONE, just so a thread IS searchable by keywords to make it easier for folks.
Are you saying that titles .. the exact title .. are NOT now searchable in titles at the top right drop down search menu as they’ve always been?
Forget it...nevermind...
Rotten young punk crooks murderous, godless maniacs...
Fixed it. Stay armed.
“I don’t see (this time) a need to mention the race of the perps.”
Do you see any need NOT to mention the race of the perps?
I don't understnd .. was I unclear ?
Simply: are titles of articles searchable in the search block of the dropdown menu at the top right of the front page under Titles ... here .. as they always have been?
You do??? For the love of......get over it.
Twice (only twice) in the past year, I posted threads after searching, and later found I had a duplicate thread.
That’s where I’ve always searched: for titles, for keywords, for users. They’re all there. The only drop down category I’ve never searched in is: Yahoo. Now .. I’m very confused. Was I unclear?
Note: Hey .. I just tried yahoo for the first time. Pretty neat. Gives you FR threads under your choice of search term that come up in a Yahoo search.
Yes, cleverly concealed loud speakers outside playing the sound of police cars pulling up with sirens blaring.
So we won't think too badly of the little darlings. "Young teens" conjures up images of Wally Cleaver and Richie Cunningham. Pointing out race and ethnicity will "offend" and "perpetuate stereotypes," etc., etc.
4 is not much of a sample size, if you know anything about statistics
“Do you see any need NOT to mention the race of the perps?”
Ok. What is the race and how do you know with certainty what it is?
Actually, a major part of my job is the extraction, compilation and statistical analysis of data. I understand statistics better than most people (though not as well as some) It is critical that I analyze and vet data before I deliver it to those who need it to base their decisions on.
Statistically speaking, I have seen four separate incidents where video was available, and my observations are 100% accurate. The sample size is low, but as I readily state, I would like for anyone (including you) to send me links that show even a mixed race crowd engaging in this behavior.
I have only seen four airliners hijacked and deliberately flown into the ground or buildings, killing all passengers and many others. I don’t have a problem with a low sample size there in determining that muslim extremists are more likely than anyone else to engage in that type of behavior. I wish my country would take the same outlook...
Not all flash mobs are dangerous, felonious or violent. And not all black people engage in violent flash mobs. But I stand by my observation because my eyes do not lie, and neither does the context or circumstances. I readily admit that my observation could be skewed, that only surveillance video with black mobs makes it to the Internet, or that this could be happening with white crowds but the areas have less surveillance video, and so on.
But until I can see at least one surveillance video showing white or even latino groups barging into a convenience store, throwing stools at the guy behind the counter, smashing things, knocking items off shelves and filling their arms with goods, then I have to reach the conclusions that I have. To do anything else and pretend otherwise is foolish, self-deluding and dangerous politically correct behavior.
To be honest, I would gladly be able to have something that makes my observations in the nature of these flash mobs less than a monolithic 100%.
And, there are two additional points I want to make:
1.) I take no pleasure in observing these facts
2.) The sanitizing of the salient facts by the media (where I have actually even seen a media report) via the mechanism of deliberate omission is nearly as disturbing to me as the events themselves.
First, the burden of proof is on you for making such claims, not me
Second, just because you saw 4 black mob videos does not justify your claim that this was a black mob from a statistical point of view.
The report says there was video from store security cameras. The video should identify the race of the miscreants.
“and how do you know with certainty what it is?”
I'm not sure what you're getting at here. If you're asking how you identify a mixed race perpetrator, then I suggest you can call them part black, part white, of Anglo-African.
However, in most cases I suspect it will be pretty clear what the race of the perpetrators is.
