1. Unfortunately seems to have expired by the time I got to it.
2. WOW! Here’s an excerpt:
some tough times, but in the long run individuality will prevail.
In doing my research for this article I came across the following which is chillingly germane to what is happening around us. The original source is unknown.
1.A slaves education is coercive
2.The slave is not told why he is being forced to be educated
3.A slaves education keeps the slave dependent on the thoughts of others
4.A slaves education keeps the slave weak
5.A Slaves education prepares him to work for others instead of preparing him to work for himself
6.A slaves education neglects the slaves unique strengths and contributions, developing only what some other institution or group needs him for
7.A slaves education is not oriented toward the honor of the slave but the glory of his master
8.A slaves education is not under natural authority but is under the arbitrary authority of the self-appointed and self-validating
9.A slaves education does not develop the higher virtues of wisdom and justice (for rather obvious reasons)
10.A slaves education does not cultivate the qualities of a free person (virtue and honor and all that arises from them)
3.Good summary.
4.Title and First Paragraph:
General Framework of Islamic Agenda for Sustainable Development
Based on the specialized studies examined by the First Islamic Conference of Environment
Ministers held in Jeddah, which reviewed the major challenges faced by the Islamic world in the
field of sustainable development, materialized mainly in the poverty, illiteracy, accumulation of
foreign debts, degradation of economic and social conditions, disequilibrium between population
growth and available natural resources, the weakness of technical capabilities, the lack of expertise
and skills in environment management, along with the negative impacts left by regional conflicts,
foreign occupation of parts of its la nd and despoiling of its resources, one may chart out the general
framework of an Islamic agenda liable to help overcome these obstacles and lay down sturdy
foundations for cooperation among the Islamic countries to achieve sustainable development, with
a view to being submitted to the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg.
