Will this feature enhance the site? I'm not facebook savvy at all, just wondering how the Like button will be helpful and useful.

It’s for all the kaczynski paranoid anti-Facebook types.
The government spies on them via their neighbor’s satellite dish too...

It's new here. If you don't like your privacy, and you've joined FaceBook, it's giving them a complet log of every thread you look at on here. That happens whether you click on the button or not.
Actually, it's giving facebook a log of everyone who hasn't firewaled themselves from the server serving up the image. But if you don't have FaceBook, or you aren't logged in (no FaceBook Cookies on your computer), you aren't identifying yourself with any more information than your IP address.

It’s a part of the Build-A-Bear conspiracy and will log your keystrokes
as well as enable Facebook to photograph you at random and Tweet pix
to unsuspecting folks who view your Facebook page.
It’s progress.

I run FireFox with the NoScript add-on. I don’t allow scripting from FreeRepublic.com or FaceBook.com, so I don’t see the button.
If I enable scripting from both FR and FB, the button shows up.
