During the Clinton era, this site was a major thorn in the Clinton's butt. We were taking out full page ads during the early days of impeachment. We did stuff to combat what we were seeing. In hindsight the Clinton's weren't that bad, in comparison.
Should we be doing more?
So are you
what do you suggest?
Ideological purges and technological innovation have taken their toll.
The internet has grown since then. Other conservative websites have sprung up. But don’t think for a minute that FR isn’t being “looked at” by friend and foe.
People have been saying this from the beginning. Wasn’t true then, either.
FR is under assult by the lame stream media via copyright infringement laws... and they are winning.
take a good look at the “do not post from” list, and you will understand why activity here has dropped dramatically over the last 2-3 years.
No surprise. It was far more active last year as well, then we took the House. FoxNews ratings are way down as well, as are CNN’s and MSNBC’s. Just wait until next February. It will heat up again. FR was also SO subversive and ahead of its time back in 1998 when I first joined. Now we have SO many imitators, and the internet chat and blog scene has exploded, diluting the time and posts of our members. But make no mistake, we are STILL a force to be rockoned with. And JimRob is a leader above any other. God Bless FreeRepublic!
Yes, the Clintons were that bad. They made the Osamas and the Obamas possible.
Owner tends to ban huge swarms of long time freepers every now and then (i.e. who are indifferent to gays, romney/rudy supporters, etc).
And...hardly any site updates/features since 1998 tends to thin the herd.
As a matter of fact, the site looks eerily similar to the one that existed in 1998.
Did those ads get rid of the Clintons?
So what? I am very proud of FR and the courage on Jim Robinson in being the voice of Free America.
I sam Jim’s site (Free Republic) take down a lying journalist (Dan Blather). I saw it first hand.
It is because of this site that I have kept my head together and have realized how many like-minded conservatives are out there. This site has kept me sane.
Jim has allowed us a voice. I hope it continues.
We fight on.
THANK YOU JIM!!!! This site has served our country well!
But to the main point...We were so active and wonderful that we got our butts kicked bad during impeachment and the ninety eight elections. It wasn't a good time at all. Nothing to be nostalgic about.
sam = saw...lousy typos!!!
They became ashamed of the Neverending story. lol.
Due to global warming internet isn’t as big as it used to be.
I think it still is when the need arises.
There are many groups persuing the wide spectrum of abuse by Obozo and his band of Commies.
We have a few detractors. I heard Hannity on his radio show on Friday bemoan the changes here. He said in the early days that he came here frequently and not so much now because of the bitter victolic nature of some here. He did say he was aware of the “Troll” content which I think is coloring some of the discussion.
This is the place to come if you want the latest about a subject. I know from experience if you post something here that you did not do your homework on, someone will call you on it. That is a good thing.
Ocassionally I see a negative treatment of a subject that I have interest in and cannot understand why it starts. Like the so called Birther issues. There is a lot more to that than someone who says Obozo was born in Kenya. (which I doubt)
It amazes me how often I read a breaking news item here and a day or 2 later it is on FOX. I have NO DOUBT they have people surfing here all the time.
They watch Drudge and Matt is great, but his topics are much more narrow in range and are generally only what you would call “breaking news”.
This is still the best forum on the web. Thank you Jim Robinson.
You may be right and thanks for the heads up. However, FR is the de facto and known “conservative” forum on the web.
But I get my news here on FR and Drudge. Physically and politically active? LOL. I kinda remember seeing an FR PAC being developed but because...Freepers are so cheap they couldn;t even pay up on the Freepathons, I think the idea went the way of the dodo.
