HAWTHORNE, Fla. -- A 74-year-old man attacked by pit bulls Friday morning had his right arm amputated, his left arm partially amputated and suffered severe facial injuries, Putnam County deputies said. Deputies were called to the 200 block of Old Hawthorne Road in Hawthorne about 11 a.m. and found Roy McSweeney severely injured. McSweeney was taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville and was in surgery Friday afternoon. His condition was not available. Investigators said the two dogs responsible for the attack belonged to McSweeney's neighbor.
They said the owner of the dogs gave both of them to authorities, and the pit bulls were euthanized and taken to the Putnam County Health Department to be tested for rabies.
Deputies said no further details could be released. .
It is curse enough to have to go through life with a mind(?) like that.
No questions.
But if you come around here "shooting dogs on sight" you'll likely get an answer.
Zippy.
I’ve known several Dobies over the years. By and large, they’re decent, loving dogs with the qualities that we know and love of all dogs. Slightly skittish, somewhat territorial, but so are numerous other breeds, such as Dachshunds. These traits can be useful in a guard dog, and so they tend to be used for that purpose, Dobies not Dachshunds. Weiner dogs just don’t look at all intimidating, lol. Dock their ears for that vaguely demonic look (not advocating that, it’s cruel imho, but that’s why it’s done) and they’re still not knee high to a toddler.
Pits, decent dogs too. Quintessentially American. Victor, the RCA dog. Petey, the Little Rascal’s faithful companion. Powerful jaws and very muscular, the wrong sort took to them, for fighting and for, again, fear. Some lines have been bred by thugs to enhance aggression. These are the ones you hear about. The vast majority have all the qualities that make us love and treasure dogs as well.
I suspect you’re about to get very capably blasted without my interjecting, though, lol. So, have fun. Good Saturday morning!
I will straight up flounce you to death.
I dunno but if you don’t stick with English in your posts, I’m *just* liberally insecure enough to hunt you down and violently kill you!!!!!
Argh!
Bloody hell...that’ll have to wait because I can’t recall where I put my Pit Pythons!
[Say...wasn’t I just on a thread condemning the DNR libidiots for “reintroducing predators” to areas that were blessedly free of them?]
You’ve hit the point.
Pit Bulls have to be ~FORCED~ to fight. It’s not in their nature.
That’s why there’s so much cruelty (think slime-ball POS Michael Vick) associated with dog fighting.
Beat me to it!
I was looking for that picture!
“Slightly skittish,”
-Serious- breed fault/automatic disqualification in the show ring.
Go EuroDobe...you’ll never go back.
Rock solid under fire, steady and not afraid of the devil, himself.
Devoted protectors of children.
The ear cropping and tail docking were not done for appearance.
With no long ears or tail to grab them by, you can’t ‘flip’ them when they’re “working”.
Purely a “form follows function” infinitely pragmatic German creed.
Enjoy the upcoming slaughter...uh...I mean ~show~.
;]
I know...it was deliciously ironic to the point of being positively *decadent*.
“Since 1996”.
LOLOL!
Don’t you wanna just pick him up and kiss him right on the snoot?
They’re SO adorable...:)
A Doberman Pimper?!?
;D
Aw...they memorialized Willy, too!
O....M....G....NOT the crinolines!
Please, anything but the skritchy crinolines!!!!
Hey...do you recall what kind of dogs Helen Keller owned?
It escapes me at the moment.

(Leonard Pitt[s]?)
Semi-auto or lever action?
:)
