HAWTHORNE, Fla. -- A 74-year-old man attacked by pit bulls Friday morning had his right arm amputated, his left arm partially amputated and suffered severe facial injuries, Putnam County deputies said. Deputies were called to the 200 block of Old Hawthorne Road in Hawthorne about 11 a.m. and found Roy McSweeney severely injured. McSweeney was taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville and was in surgery Friday afternoon. His condition was not available. Investigators said the two dogs responsible for the attack belonged to McSweeney's neighbor.
They said the owner of the dogs gave both of them to authorities, and the pit bulls were euthanized and taken to the Putnam County Health Department to be tested for rabies.
Deputies said no further details could be released. .
A BLIND Jack Russell?! Wow... yeah... they bark at EVERYTHING! I wish they just a little less noisy... but they’re good dogs! :-)
Thank yew vurry mush....:)
Well, bye. LOL!
Don Davis, space artist extraordinaire. Very nice. Except the part about the end of the world, of course.
He’s not randomly barking...he’s echo-locating!
:)
LOL! :-) That’s funny. :-)
All these deep thinkers and practitioners of rigorous, methodical canine science will never be able to fully explain these behaviors until they're willing to acknowledge the phenomena of demonic possession...
I think channel 2 from Nashville came out and made a story. They adopted it after some tragic event. Very kind on my neighbors part.
and that proves what? Nothing, nothing at all. For all you know that same dog killed that kitten a week later. THE DOGS ARE DANGEROUS! End of story. I have dogs, but not a breed that has EVER killed someone. Now my I know of dogs of my breed that have been killed by Pit Pulls, and other dogs. I don’t ever have to worry about my breed killing a person in my home or elsewhere.
It could be true.
I’ve seen news stories and YouTubes of blind dogs who navigate their world via echo-location.
A litter of Ibizan pups were recently born and some had genetic microphthalmia [tiny little or no eyes] and they’re all hale and hearty and run like maniacs around their large yard.
Smart little critters.

Awesome! :-)
Statistics are a b*tch:
2010 Dog Bite Fatalities
33 U.S. fatal dog attacks occurred in 2010. Despite being regulated in Military Housing areas and over 500 U.S. cities, pit bulls led these attacks accounting for 67% (22). Pit bulls make up approximately 5% of the total U.S. dog population.3
In 2010, the combination of pit bulls (22) and rottweilers (4) accounted for 79% of all fatal attacks. In the 6-year period from 2005 to 2010, this same combination accounted for 71% (129) of the total recorded deaths (181).
The combined breakdown between the two breeds is substantial. From 2005 to 2010, pit bulls killed 104 Americans, about one citizen every 21 days, versus rottweilers, which killed 25 Americans, about one citizen every 88 days
