VANCOUVER Canadians may abhor the rising price of gasoline, but Thomas Stocker suggests the planet might be better off if it soared to "three to four" times its current level.
"This is scandalous, I know," said Stocker, adding sky-high gasoline could help slow the climate change which world leaders have declared one of the greatest challenges of our time.

Gee..Go back to living in about 1880...no cars, no electricity, no flush toilets, no running water, horse powered agriculture or become Amish. I wonder how many media elites, Hollywood stars, politicians and environmentalist whackos would adopt this life style or would they be conveniently exempted?
It's pretty hard to hear in Uranus...
“The planet would be better off, if we simply fired all the climate experts.”
At those prices, they would be “fired”, all right. Right after the tar and feathering. Yes, it would pollute a bit and probably smell bad, but it would be better in the long run.
“I don’t have to pay for my gas/car so screw the rest of you”

Showing my age here, but I remember buying gas at double digit prices.
The lowest I ever saw was .26, two black-owned independent gas stations near Detroit having a price war. That was mid-60’s. By the time I was 16, there were the Jimmy Carter waiting lines at the gas stations, and it was up to an outrageous .55. That would be 2.22 in today’s dollars.

Only a liberal could see that connection.
Like $0.25/gallon?
We were outraged when filling up a 20 gallon tank wen from $5 a tank to $10 a tank.
Course, minimum wage was nothing to write home about either, but I still think that proportionately, it was MUCH cheaper.
They could stop the production of all gasoline today and it might not change anything.
So I take it this imbecile pays the gas station $12/gallon instead of $4/gallon whenever he fills up right? I mean, if he’s saying it’s the right thing to do shouldn’t he do it by choice?
I’ll believe he does when I see him do it.
I remember $.25 - .29 gas in the 60s as well. Yes, you could get someone to pump the gas for you, wash your windshield, hand them a $10.00 bill and get change.
We were getting gas for our farm tractors for under $.20, but weren't supposed to use it for our cars. Well, DUH!
Except for degree, what is the difference between this and ancient cultures offering human sacrifices to ensure a bountiful harvest?
