This is Memorial Day and so I don’t want to nitpick, but how could the President possibly clear a speech for this day that reads:
It’s one of my highest honors. It is my most solemn responsibility as president to serve as commander-in-chief of one of the finest fighting forces the world has ever known.”

I would stand side-by-side with any of you and fight to the death for all the same reasons you felt it was worth it. God, Country, Liberty.

One thing I can say about Howdy Doody is that he is not ONE OF the worst presidents this country has had, he IS the worst president this country has had to suffer with. He is clearly an Amerihater.

Incredible. He continues to surprise me.
The US military is very good.
However, if you leave technology out of the issue, there have been many military forces down through history that have been arguably as good, possibly even better.
The Prussians under Frederick the Great, the Swedes under Gustavus Adolphus, the Macedonians under Alexander, the Romans under Caesar, the French under Napoleon. Even, sadly, the Germans in both world wars. Truly great militaries.
It’s like the arguments about whether a world series winning team from the 80s could have beaten one from the 30s. How can you ever find out?
If you do figure in technology, our present military is obviously incomparable. Any previous force would be merely a speed bump.
That said, today is not the time for a president to be making technical comparisons between military forces. It’s a time to express pride in America’s military.
“In 2012 this nation must reject this guy.”
“Now would be better.”
I given up hope that the Congress would impeach him, even if he smoked crack during his next State of the Union Address. However, I haven’t given up hope that the public could impeach him, simply by not giving him the attention he apparently always needs and desires, then eventually watch him meltdown on election night 2012 when 42-46 states elect his opponent.

“Does he believe what he said?” Yes. Not only that, everyone who reviewed the speech saw nothing wrong with what he said. These speeches are not casually thrown together. Is this U.S. military the finest in the world? One would hope the Commander-in-Chief would believe so. However, this is a subjective call. I suppose that there are people who are quite impressed by the Janjaweed.

And he has to listen to, over and over again, all the verses to "The Battle Hymm of the Republic"!
I think it is a stretch that he even heard of General Robert E. Lee.
