Pippen: LeBron Better Than Jordan

Better than Michael Jordan? Such words would be considered mere folly coming from the mouth of any NBA player, so imagine the response when that opinion was offered by a longtime teammate of Jordan.

Scottie Pippen, who won six NBA titles in the 1990s playing alongside Jordan with the Chicago Bulls, set off a buzz when he appeared on ESPN radio Friday morning and said Miami Heat forward LeBron James "may be the greatest player to ever play the game."

A STFU comment if there ever was one. This guy has always been jealous of Michael Jordan and never gracious enough to admit how lucky he was to play next to him for all those title runs.

What a douche!

Lebron has to win at least two or three championships before we can even begin having this debate.

I have. Yes, I do know it’s Memorial Day and because of our brave soldiers, the citizens of our wonderful country are free enough to engage in conversations of any topic, as vacuous as it may seem to your sensibilities.

I don’t remember Michael Jordan ever tanking on his team during the playoffs so he could leave and go to another team. MJ would NEVER have done that. If LeBron wins a title this year its ONLY because he bailed on Cleveland and went to play with two potential hall of famers. Heck can I go play for Miami too, win a ring, would I be considered better then Jordan too

The latest is not always the greatest. Lebron has a long way to go to match Jordan, Wilt and Kareem on the top tier.

Magic was miles better than both.

Anyone can work the ball. A true Great makes everyone around them better (in military parlance: a force multiplier).

Jordan played for years (1984-1990) scoring a bizzlion points in losing efforts before he finally understood he was part of a team.

Magic knew it immediately and immediately made his team better in his VERY FIRST SEASON (1979).

Jordan can’t even carry Magic’s jockstrap. Much less Bird’s (who, had it not been for Magic, would have been the best of his generation).

As for LeBron — Yawn.

Today’s player’s can’t even play the game. They can’t shoot, they can’t pass, they can’t play 1:1 D.

They just play playground BB — “get me on ESPN highlights, baby!”

Magic, Bird and the greats of their time practiced. A LOT. Magic (almost 85% FT in his career) used to do 1,000 free throws a day. Today’s BB players don’t do that in a CAREER.

I hope so. It was good for the league too in 1969 when the Celtics TEAM beat the Wilt/West/Baylor Lakers that everybody had conceded the title to. It's always good for the sport when a real team beats a group of superstars thrown together.

How many championship rings does LeBron have? Imagine the Miami Heat playing the Bulls team with Michael Jordan at his prime. Jordan would take all this talk about “who is the greatest” as a personal challenge, and Michael would literally abuse LeBron. LeBron would be crying to the refs every time Michael posterized him (not that LeBron doesn’t already have a problem with every single call that the refs make).

Actually, considering he’s paired with another superstar, I’d say at least 7 before it can even be discussed.

Scottie Pippen is nearly broke. Also, irrelevant IMO.

It also took Jordan 6 years to be on a team. Michael and Magic are both great, but Magic’s supporting cast was much better than Jordan’s. Jordan made his teammates better, too. Magic was definitely a better passer, but he was not as good a scorer or defender as Michael.

Magic was miles better than both.

Magic wasn't even close to being as good as LeBron or Jordan.

Magic couldn't or wouldn't play defense. He couldn't guard a statue; and now the NBA refs actually call traveling.

MJ let his BB skills speak for itself. Sure he did commercials but they came calling for him. LeBaby self-promo’s and the Boy King is one without a ring. Not this year LBJ-— maybe sometime in the future after a diet of humble pie properly prepares the way.
