A man after my own heart. Just got done some porch painting while the wife took a swim, the grill is a-glowin', and I have three pounds of pork rib tips that are about to get the hickory wood/Jack Daniels Old No. 7 BBQ treatment, Viking style.

The Phil Harris/Alice Faye Show, as far as I know, is hands down the funniest classic radio show. Fantastic writing, wonderful acting- it still holds up well today.

This is my first attempt smoking ribs. I spent too much time cleaning the garage today and the st. louis ribs didn't go on until 6pm. Just took them off and put them in the oven. Hope they finish soon, I'd like to eat before dawn. Using a rub and apple wood.

Take it from a 20-year+ wood smoker, you'll get the hang of it. And I bet you'll come up with your own 'signature' method - we all do. It's just a matter of perseverance and creativity. And applewood is a good choice. Cherry and pecan wood are good ones, too. Bon appetit - one of my hounds just came in and told me that mine are ready. (They do guard 'their' grill so dilligently. )

My Man Godfrey. Husband Keith saw that it was a classic class warfare story. It was very intense.
