Of course we love calling Obama incompetent because most of the time he appears to be so. (Yes, I know he really is.) Though, I guess I am incompetent too about royal protocol. So I am wondering, why exactly did the anthem start playing at that moment? And what would have been the correct thing for him to do? I also wonder, did he recognize the tune that was being played?
Didn’t Paul MCartney say that he was glad that we finally have a President who could find the library, thus issuing an insult at President Bush? I think we Freepers ought to send Sir Paul a note with a copy of this youtube flub along with our own unique captions.

Traditionally in Commonwealth countries, when you say the words “A toast to the Queen”, that’s the cue for the band to start playing the anthem - so every knowledgeable speechmaker makes sure those are their LAST words in their speech - because otherwise you end up talking while the anthem is playing, a definite sign of no class.
But worldly Obama, all-knowing and all-seeing, apparently wasn’t aware of this simple rule. Thus, he’s standing there like a dork, the only one with his glass raised while everyone else silently stands at attention for the anthem.
An equivalent would be for some obnoxious Brit to talk through “The Star-Spangled Banner” while it was playing at an official WH event - not impressive behavior in any country.

When I think of him returning the Churchill bust, I don’t know what to think. Churchill is one of three people bestowed by congress with honorary American citizenship. What I figure is he didn’t want his parentage to be compared to Churchill’s. Churchill was of similar parentage as Obama, he had an American mother and a British father. Though Churchill admittedly was born in is father’s homeland making him a British citizen. Not sure if he would have been considered a natural born Brit as his mom was an American. And Obama, he was born somewhere...lol

Thanks. I figured he should have stopped talking, but should he have continued to hold the glass, put the glass down, remain standing, sit back down? What would have been the polite thing to do? Do the Brits stand when the anthem is playing? I didn’t watch it again, saw it yesterday and I don’t remember anyone rising to stand. Which left standing our deer in the headlights president. And others on here seem to say her majesty told him to set the glass down. But how about himself, should he have sat down or stand standing?
Actually, the 2008 mistake has me pretty concerned. How detatched from reality is he to lose 3 years? I could see a mistake of writing 2010, like we all do when the year flips, but 3 years? I think this shows a serious, serious mental issue.
The Queen did no such thing. She did what was proper and dignified, which was to ignore the clueless idiot.
Trying to toast her during the song that is their national anthem was just plain dumb, and she ignored it.
There is a good reason there is PROTOCOL for these things. If you get 100 important people in a room and no one knows what to do next, then nothing would ever get done.
And it is a bad sign to other leaders when someone knows the importance of this and learns it in advance. Did no one prepare him for this??????
This is a person incapable of staying focused. Unfortunately those behind the scenes are a huge danger to us and the rest of the free world.

The Clown-In-Chief is awkwardly reading his notes/toast off the table while trying to maintain eye contact. Everybody stands and the British national anthem begins. O’bummer is too stupid to shut up and keeps talking. He raises his glass of Thunderbird Wine to the Queen and she ignores him. He doesn’t look happy.
baraq cannot function without the teleprompter. He is reading what was written for him. Who is his writer? How come this guy cannot function on his own? During his campaign on one of his trips to Hawaii, his media was talking about him getting coaching on how to speak without the tele. 2 1/2 years later and the goof can’t speak to a bunch of 7 year olds without it.
Nothing of what he says is heartfelt except when he slips into ghetto speak. That’s all he knows. And the goof made it to the white house without ever having to actually speak. He only reads what is written for him by some staffer or his puppet master.
