Really? ...' Born-Again' believers - Have Smaller Brains
(Men vs. Women Brains?)
Well, there you have it.
So are Born Again believers dumb? Oh no, they're not saying that... directly. But that's how some will view a new study from Duke University Medical Center. According to the researchers (Their brain size is unknown) Protestants have bigger brains than born-again Christians.
The study, which examined the hippocampus region of the brain, found that Protestants who did not have a "born again" experience had significantly more gray matter than either those who reported a life-changing religious experience, Catholics, or unaffiliated older adults."
So, are men's brains bigger than women's brains?
The brain of the men is, on average, 100 grams (0.3 pounds) heavier than that of the women.
So, do they have to stop calling us “fat heads”?
That's why a control for age at conversion / apostasy (nd education) would be so important; and a parallel study on generosity /empathy given to intellectuals and to atheists. The unspoken hit on Christians isn't the obvious one that "Christians are dumb"; rather it is the message that "intelligenceTM is all that *really* matters."
Cheers!
So as a former “born again” christian I can expect my brain to be growing?
Uh, as to this article, a very high percentage of the black population consider themselves “born again” as do many Baptists. This would be likely called “racist” if it were done by a “conservative” group.
Protestants? Born agains?
Jesus said unless we are all born again we won’t enter the kingdom of heaven. More garbage from the people without true knowledge.
The love of money is the root of many evils...
Gee sounds like the whole Nazi experience in modern medicine yet again.
Good point Paved Paradise..
Good posting!
How does someone claiming to be a “born-again” cause a separation from all other Christian religious sects? Is a “born-again” a member of a new sect that differs from Methodist, Baptist, etc., or just someone who has reaffirmed his/her belief?
I’m not an active religious type, though raised Methodist, so I’m not trying to dis anyone with my comments. I’m just curious as to why “born-again” folks consider themselves to be different from people who are religious but not “born-again”. .....In my mind, that’s leaning toward the Jim Jones kool-aid type of thinking.
...us pea brains won't be burning in hell one day...
...8-P...
Why would anyone do such a study? Why would anyone even think about doing such a study? Was this study funded by my tax dollars? Are these all rhetorical questions?
