I just witnessed the U.S.S New York passing WTC on way to 'Fleet week'. Awesome! All hands on deck, sunny, warm morning here in Hoboken. Two Ospreys passed over to add to the moment. Couldn't decide whether to start singing "Proud to be an American" or "Anchors Away!", so I simply gazed in nationlistic pride and waved my yellow plastic shopping bags to signal the hands on deck. Hundreds in Frank Sinatra Park also watching, taking pictures. Towers now peeking above remaining neighbors, about 55 stories high and counting.
All ashore that's going ashore.
TTIWWP!!!! Pics please.
Wow. My eyes are misting. I can only imagine the chills I’d have seeing it in person. One of these years I will make it up there for this event. Seems right now, I’m always working...not a thing to complain about these days.
Well, at least I learned what TTIWWP means.
Is this the ship that has a few tons of WTC steel in her hull?
Kicks serious a$$, takes names later!
You do have a camera - right?
I wish it was passing two rebuilt (taller) WTC towers.
In her bow, yes it is.
And with the two towers to remember the WTC Towers.
Fair winds and following seas. Long may your big jib draw. God speed, New York.
I’m a few blocks from Coney Island, but my lunchtime won’t give enough time to get to a decent spot to see. I’m not close enough to the Verranzano for this. sigh.
now i know too.
former army but a big student of naval warfare. i can’t imagine having to serve on a ship named for the traitor bastards carter and murtha.
