There’s a good chunk of this upcoming generation that’s going to have a rough time going through life when no one, particularly not their bosses, is kissing their behinds and patting their heads for a job well done.

The sense of entitlement is astonishing. We are already seeing kids of “helicopter parents” who are amazed when not only do they not get the job when they apply but then when Mommy and/or Daddy call the prospective employer and they STILL don’t get the job!
Go figure, right?

Frankly, I have found service industry personnel to be much more polite in the last few years. Whether from self-interested corporate directives or from individuals realizing they need customers to continue to be employed, it is a slight movement in the right direction.
It goes deeper than that. It’s apparent that they can’t even speak “American.” Their communication skills are just above zero. sd
