Iraq war vet and father of two shot 71 times in own HOME by SWAT team

Jose Guerena, 26,survived two tours of duty in Iraq as a marine, only to be gunned down in a hail of 71 bullets in his own Tucson, Arizona home, while his wife and four-year old son hid in a nearby closet. Mr Guerena's wife, Vanessa, said she heard her husband moaning as he lay dying, his body struck by 60 of the bullets.

Ms Guerena told ABC News: 'I saw his stomach, all the blood on the floor'

She said her goal now is to 'clear his good name'. Ms Guerena said their son Joel keeps asking about his deceased father, 'Is he a bad guy?' The Tucson SWAT team responsible for the May 5 house shooting defends its actions, saying the team was conducting a multi-house drug investigation based on a search warrant when they saw Mr Guerena aiming an assault rifle at them. At first, the SWAT team had said Mr Guerena fired first, but then they retracted that statement, saying he had left the safety on.

Think about it for a second. She's hiding in a closet. The only way out or in is the closet door. She turns her back to the door with the baby in front of her to protect the child. She is in a panic on the phone. She says she has the baby in front of her. Shots are being fired outside. She is in fear for her life and the life of her child. She has no idea what has happened to her husband. Clearly she should have chosen her words more carefully, and should have known that some arm chair morality quarter back would decide that she is an evil person who used her child as a shield, and by implication most certainly bears culpability in the events that unfolded...

Just for future reference, had you described the situation as you did in your post and skipped your moral high horse bulls#%#, I'd have posted a response along the lines of "oh, huh, hadn't thought of that. Good point!" And I wouldn't have gotten the impression that you're an obnoxious ass. There's no reason for your little snipes and insults, implied or blatant. I made no judgment against her, I was just taken aback by it. A simple response of "here's a possible explanation" would have sufficed. Now should I count this as a one-off? Or are you always this rude to your fellow FReepers?
