Actor Jeff Conaway, best known for his role in the hit musical "Grease", is in a coma fighting for his life after an apparent drug overdose. Family members said the 60 year old was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital after being found unconscious at his home in Encino, California.

He is reported to have become addicted to pain killers after falling down a flight of stairs in January 2010 breaking a hip, arm and fracturing his neck but has a long history of substance abuse.

The troubled actor has battled drink and drug addiction for many years and has featured on a US reality show where Hollywood stars are sent into rehab.

He did a stint in later episodes of 'Babylon 5' as well. That was a pretty cool series.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grease_%28film%29

“Grease is an 1978 American musical film directed by Randal Kleiser and based on Warren Casey’s and Jim Jacobs’s 1971 musical, of the same name about two lovers in a 1950s high school. The film stars John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing, and Jeff Conaway. It was successful both critically and at the box office; its soundtrack album ended 1978 as the second-best selling album of the year in the United States (the best selling album of that year was the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack, another film starring Travolta).[2”

I’m sorry, I can’t sit in judgement on a person using painkillers after going through this.

I live in FL. Lots of people taking the max of pain pills here, but so many are barely able to move. Pain pills have lots of bad points but what’s life when you can’t get out of a chair anyway?

He and his girlfriend were addicts for many a year. Celebrity Rehab made him enuff money to continue his addiction, IMHO

Sad. If he gets another chance, I hope he doesn’t blow it.

He is 60? I feel old now.

Not to pile on or anything, but...

You're older now than you ever have been!

I loved Babylon 5. The last great hope.... didn’t they steal that line from Reagan?

Name me a liberal who hasn't stolen from Reagan when it was convenient.........!

Life has a way of placing people in so many different places with challenges we may not understand.

I for one, will pray that God will shed his grace on him.

this is really sad, but not surprising... saw a couple of episodes of Celebrity Rehab at a relative’s home a couple of years ago in which he was one of the celebrities going through rehab... and he semmed to be fighting it... i do remember him from Grease, of course... but he was also well-known for his role as Bobby Wheeler in Taxi...

Pain meds and recovering drunks always produce another cautionary tale. Someone should have sat on his chest after his accident.

Comfortably Numb lyrics
Songwriters: Gilmour, David Jon; Waters, Roger;

Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone at home?

Come on, now
I hear you’re feeling down
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again

Relax
I’ll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship’s smoke on the horizon
You are the only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re saying

When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I’ve got that feeling once again
I can’t explain you would not understand
This is not how I am

I have become comfortably numb

I empathize with those whose injuries cause abuse of painkillers, but this guy wouldn’t be in the shape he’s in after one year. He’s a serious, long-term drug abuser. (When was he on that rehab TV show?)

Conaway’s manager Phil Brock said on Thursday the actor was in “critical but stable condition” at a Los Angeles area hospital and was “unconscious and unresponsive”.

The 60-year-old actor, who has a history of addiction to cocaine, alcohol and prescription painkillers, was found unconscious at his home last week by a friend and may have been there for about 10 hours before being discovered.

Conway has yet to come to although he did turn his head briefly last Sunday, Brock said.

Brock said the actor was suffering from pneumonia and was already sick at the time of the overdose.
