MINNEAPOLIS - Two possible GOP presidential candidates got together in one room in Minneapolis to speak before the Minnesota Family Council and Minnesota Family Institute about reconnecting faith, family and freedom on Tuesday -- but not without a little bedazzling.
Gingrich and his wife, Callista, were hit with glittery confetti by a protestor during the couple's appearance at a book-signing in Minneapolis.
The man approached the Gingriches during the signing Tuesday afternoon at a downtown hotel before dumping a cracker box full of confetti on the pair while he said, "Feel the rainbow, Newt! Stop the hate! Stop anti-gay politics!"

How did he get in there with that? Nice security. I don’t care for Newt, but besides this being very silly there’s a safety factor there. No one checked what he was carrying in?
That was my thought. He is an announced candidate for President. Regardless of this guy being a tool, he should have better protection than what he is getting. What keeps fools who want to disrupt our Primary shooting a couple candidates for fun. That box could have easily been filled with some other danger as well.

Local prankster, Nick Espinosa, who also goes by the name Robert Erickson, said he doused the couple in rainbow confetti because anti-gay rhetoric doesn’t belong in Minneapolis.
Espinosa is the same prankster that threw a stash of pennies at Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer during a campaign event last year.
