The real question the media needs to ask Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman -- and even Harry Reid coincides with my new tagline: 'SHOW US YOUR SPIRITUAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE FROM KOLOB'
Mormons make bold claims to a pre-existence on Kolob: Having a dad-become-god father and a divine mother...giving "spirit birth" as aliens to this planet. Then being sent here to Planet Earth to inhabit bodies.
Well. We wanna see the proof!
Actually, I'd even settle for significantly less than "proof!" I'd just like to hear each of them utter: "Yes, I was spirit-born on Kolob to a divine goddess."
That's it!
We'd just like them to give their "Mormon testimony" that yes, they were indeed "spirit born" on another planet! We would take this "conviction" as their "word" on the subject and wouldn't need any behind-the-scene investigators.
Certainly, the bar threshold being demanded by us "spirit-birthers" re: "proof" would then be much lower for these Kolob kandidates than what 'birthers' are demanding for President Obama. [It'll still rank higher than the MSM's scrutiny bar of President Obama]
It's printed on the inside of their magic underwear and I don't want to see it.
I’m not mormon...but attacking what you feel is quirky about ther faith doesn’t seem too much...if at all..above what atheists do when they go after Chrisitianity. “Yeah...a dead guy woke up and rolled a boulder out of the way and walked around with holes in hands...that’s believable”
So, based upon this new "absolute" of yours, we should...
...earmark anything "religious" as being "beyond scrutiny" & never critique anything hiding under that umbrella?
Really?
Anything "religious" goes? No questions are to be raised?
Satanism A-OK in your eyes? Hare Krishnas hitting you up @ airports? Scientologists donating booklets to public schools that get distributed there like they did in Texas? That's OK? Or public-school kids being taken to Native American ceremonies where they were encouraged to take part in pagan rituals -- also OK?
Nothing critical from your lips about anything Muslim? All that they advocate A-OK in your eyes? We can't question it when Muslims reference all Christians as "infidels" and Mormon doctrine references all Christians as "apostates." We just are to take it all at face value?
You see this is what happens when you buy into the liberal campus & MSM drivel about "tolerance."
If people tolerated their cash flow the way they tolerate "religion," they'd never inspect the green currency in their wallet to see what might be a counterfeit!
There is a difference between attacking God as revealed in the Jewish/Christian bible, and attacking the Joe Smith cult and his “bible” that Smith created 73 years before Bob Hope was born.
We are beyond scrutiny? Really..I thought you pretty much post anti-mormon stuff nearly everyday. I thought you pretty much got your fill. If you miss a day, I get concerned perhaps you were ill. I am concerned that there aren’t as many responses as before. I would not like it if people ignored your rants.
Take a deep breath and slow down there...WTF dies Islam has to do with this conversation? So what if Romney has some beliefs that you find unusual? If he’s minding his own business, practicing his faith and not harming anyone in the process, what’s it to you?
The difference is that you believe all that bible jazz...what a maroon you are...
Please excuse my ignorance - but what are you talking about?
The difference is that you believe all that bible jazz...what a maroon you are...
(Hey, I see you didn’t ignore me)
LOL, so it was Mormonism that you wanted to defend, we have seen atheists take this tack before.
No..I want to defend a simple concept that’s a part of the founding principles of this country...religious tolerance.
Romney is entitled to his beliefs...he and the rest of the mormons aren’t forcing those beliefs on anyone. They’re not out there mocking christians or jews or muslims.
I had my fill of hypocrites like you in the Catholic church...I don’t need them here on a political forum
The media would destroy a Republican religious Bishop, and stake President that spent the first 32 years of his life teaching the inferiority of blacks, and abortion as his religious doctrine.
#1 you automatically assume no spiritual harm is done...why how "sovereign" of you...be sure to put me on your omniscient pings so I can keep up to date on these things.
#2 Romney tithes on his millions to the Mormon church. The Lds church in their Web sites, curricula, books, sacred books, media repeatedly accuses the Christian church of apostatizing from the faith. They claim Protestants, Catholics & Orthodox are no longer the church -- and haven't been for 1500-1700 years. (That hardly sounds like "minding their own business.")
If you never said a word vs. Protestantism or other Christian denominations...but if you funded groups that made these accusations...putting them into 100+ different languages...ya better believe your wallet "talks."
WT[*] dies [does] Islam has to do with this conversation? So what if Romney has some beliefs that you find unusual?
Well, let's turn the Q around: So what if Muslims have some beliefs that YOU find unusual? [Like martyrdom = 72 virgins awaiting them]
As for what it has to with Islam...I could say to you what you said to me in post #4: attacking what you feel is quirky about ther [Muslim] faith doesnt seem too much...if at all..above what atheists do when they go after Chrisitianity.
If you apply your own standards above to Islam, you could never critique Muslim beliefs!
Besides, Muslims & Mormons have a lot of overlap...I'll deal with just one for brevity's sake: They both believe all Christians & Christian denominations are unfaithful infidels-apostates who have corrupted the faith. (BTW, this is a belief shared by Harold Kamping, who has predicted "end-times mayhem" starting this weekend)
If you can't critique religious statements, then when Kamping is proved wrong this weekend, nobody could hold him accountable for his "querky" false prophecies.
Once you go out on a limb to defend others' querky beliefs as being something that can't be targeted, 'tis hard for you to redraw your boundaries as applied to religious beliefs across the board.
You seem hostile to Catholics and Christianity, and eager to come to the defense of an anti-Christian cult. Early America was not tolerant of Mormonism by the way.
I'm drawing a parallel.
Obama says he had his "beginnings" on Planet Earth in Hawaii. 'Birthers' & the curious demand proof.
Let's say we had two POTUS candidates -- one a Scientologist and another a "True-Believing Mormon."
Per wikipedia, a Scientologist believes that people are "immortal alien spiritual being, termed a thetan, that is trapped on planet Earth in a physical body." Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology_beliefs_and_practices
Similarly, a Mormon believes that people are immortal alien spiritual beings, termed residents of Kolob, that come to planet Earth to inhabit physical bodies.
That's part of a true-believing Mormon's testimony -- and it's why they believe ALL people on earth can call their god "Heavenly Father." They believe this "fatherhood" status was a true spirit-paternity in a "pre-existence" on Kolob.
Well, if 'birthers' demand "proof" for Obama; I'd like to see some "proof" for Romney & Huntsman's "spirit-birth" on Kolob!
Testimony in a court of law is treated to some degree as "proof." I'd like to hear it from their lips that they were "spirit-born" on Kolob to a divine goddess.
That's it!
Yes a foundational principle of this nation - religious tolerance - I tolerate them saying I am an apostate following a fallen religion - and they can tolerate me making fun of them.
Besides, if you mock Mormonism now you are just a small minded religious bigot - and if Romney or Huntsman doesn't get the nomination it will be seen by the MSM as proof that Republicans are too Evangelical and not at all tolerant of Mormons.
But if either of them got the nomination - then pointing out the bizarre doctrines and rather shoddy history of Mormonism would be story A-1 front page until the election! And it wouldn't be bigoted when THEY did it! It would be couched as “concern” - we are “concerned” about the horrible bigoted Republicans who won't vote for a Mormon because Mormons believe the following.......
BET ON IT!!!! :)
