It's official: Ashton Kutcher is filling the gap left by Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men."
"I can't wait to get to work with this ridiculously talented 2.5 team and I believe we can fill the stage with laughter that will echo in viewers' homes," Kutcher said Friday in a statement released by CBS and Warner Bros. Television.
"I can't replace Charlie Sheen but I'm going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people!"
Kutcher, who gained his early fame on a TV sitcom, "That 70s Show," has more recently been seen on the big screen. His last film was "No Strings Attached," which hit theaters in January.
He's also made his mark as a TV executive producer, most notably for MTV's hidden-camera show "Punk'd."
"Ashton is a pop culture triple threat -- film star, cutting-edge producer and a social media pioneer," said Nina Tassler, the head of CBS Entertainment. "He brings creativity, energy and personality to everything he touches. We are thrilled to have him."
CBS and Warner Bros. did not disclose how much Kutcher will earn. Sheen, who is embroiled in a lawsuit over his sudden dismissal from the show in March, was earning a reported $2 million for each episode.
Sheen responded to the news by praising Kutcher while taking a shot at the show's executive producer, Chuck Lorre.
"Ashton Kutcher is a sweetheart and a brilliant comedic performer. Oh wait, so am I!!," Sheen said in a written statement. "Enjoy the show America. Enjoy seeing 2.0 in the demo every Monday, WB. Enjoy planet Chuck, Ashton. There is no air, laughter, loyalty, or love there."

So, I guess they’ll rename it “One Man and Two Half Men”.
Good luck with that. Look for it to be $h!tcanned by mid-season.
I’ll be interested to see how he gets weaved into the story.
I presume he won’t just be a replacement Charlie the way they replaced Dick York with Dick Seargent on Bewitched and hoped nobody would notice.
I assume he’ll be a new character...will they kill Charlie off? Will Kutcher play some long lost illegitimate son of Charlies or perhaps a cousin of Charlie and Alan?
i don’t get it. Is the new guy going to play the same character as the old guy? That’ll never work.
Van Halen did not “replace” David Lee Roth with Sammy Hagar. They created a new band with the same name. This is going to be Ashton Kutcher playing Charlie Sheen, playing himself.
Probably. They will likely have high ratings for a couple episodes due to curiosity though.
I just think of Kutcher as Kelso from That 70s Show...it’s really the only role he played well IMHO.
Major mistake.
THis sitcom has been going on for 8 years now, hasn’t it run it’s course already?
More or less - I think had Sheen stayed on, his character would have married Rose, the cute stalker, and that would have been the end of it.
What’s odd to me is in the show, they live in CHARLIE’S house. How are they going to explain Charlie not being there, and all these people still living in the house?
They’d almost have to kill him off and have him leaving the house to Alan or something.
Toy boy replacing truther moron. I never watched that show anyhow.
Yup. They certainly won’t be able to get away with pulling out one Dick and quickly slipping in a new Dick like they did back in the old days...
Not a big Kutcher fan and the “half” man of the title isn’t cute anymore.
Time to end the series gracefully.
That kid ain’t no “half” anything anymore.
RE: Time to end the series gracefully.
Well, this is the one last grasp of the producers. I personally believe viewers will NOT take the replacement well and it will die a well deserved death soon ( besides, the cute littel boy has grown up and isn’t that cute anymore ).
He’s such a jerk.
RE: Hes such a jerk.
Which one, Charlie or Ashton?
I wonder how much his “old” lady paid to get him the part?
“He would be *perfect* for the role. He is smart, and funny, and has a really big... er, talent! So what are we looking at? $10m? $20m?”
