Indiana School Employee: Education Reform=Nazi Ovens

Last week, my organization praised the Indiana lawmakers for passing some of the nation’s most significant education reforms. In one of Education Action Group’s weekly newsletters, we said that Indiana’s new voucher program and its decision to lift the cap on charter schools will transform the state’s public education system, to the benefit of all Hoosier families and students.

Well, EAG’s audacity in celebrating the idea of school choice generated a number of hateful email responses – from unionized Indiana teachers.

But as unhinged as unionized teachers can become, one Indiana educator stooped to new lows.

An email from a teacher at East Allen County Schools said this:

“Why do you distribute this propaganda? Do you have a conscience? Do you really believe any of this? I am not a union member but feel that Mitch’s agenda is killing Indiana. The education agenda is a holocaust against our children. Please understand I am speaking as a grandson of a Holocaust survivor. This is truly as bad or worse than what was done to the Jewish people only it is happening to innocent young people. It is frightening to me.”

What's frightening is that this moron would make such a comparison. And what's this about "innocent young people"? What, there weren't thousands of innocent young Jewish people?

Whenever the media quote teachers, administrators or students there should be a mandatory history quiz.

Let us not forget that today’s ‘educators’ were brought up on the same rubbish they are infecting youth with today.

Isn’t the Nazi card getting as worn out as the race card? These accusations need to be reacted to with a big oh-hum. Liberals have overused race, nazis, profanity, etc, until they no longer have a real meaning.

I always knew the East side of Allen County was slightly nuts, now I know why the Teachers are spewing this stuff to the kids.

A few years ago Texas was going to test teachers to see if they were up to par. I knew several female teachers and you would have thought the sky was falling. They were greatly distressed, probably from fear of flunking the test. I don’t remember if the law passed or not.

Too many teachers, unfortunately, are the dregs of the academic barrel. They went into education because they couldn’t hack anything else, and they’ve bought into modernist fads that are hostile to rigor, standards, and testing because they themselves never passed muster. I have enormous respect for people who go into teaching for the right reasons and am grateful for their service. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to share the profession with tenured deadweights.

I agree with your assessment. Because of low pay, offset by sort days and a short school year, those who entered the profession did it out of a “calling.” I remember my teachers and all were in it to be teachers, period.

However, one of the early Communist goals was to take over the education system and they have done that through various means - unions and tenure key to that goal. The unions now are concentrating on more money for teachers because they then pass a portion of the dues along to the friendly politicians with the same agenda. We are seeing teacher protest all over the country. They are all demanding more money for “Education.” Here in Texas the actor Tommie Lee Jones, who is from Texas, is doing commercials bemoaning the fact that Texas is number 44 in money spent per student. We all know that money is not the problem in education and that the money spent is rarely directed to activities which affect the student.

They also like to cite the teacher student ratio as if that is an important factor. When I went to school there were at least 30 students per class and that was no problem then, so why now? The key thing is that fewer students per class means more teachers to perpetuate the incestuous money laundering circle with unions and politicians. As usual the Left creates a problem with the intent of growing government in order to “solve” it.

When they start mounting protest and increasing demands we know that they are being affected by our opposition to their schemes. They are usually successful in keeping those hidden. With the popularity of conservative talk radio, conservative internet sites and Fox News we are on to them. They no longer control the information and they are trying to silence us with new proposals to control the internet and radio/television. All will be done in the name of fairness and security of course. The opposite will be true.
