I often wonder that if John Wayne were alive today, what would he think/do/say regarding the current events of the world. Not just the current regime in DC and Congress, but Iraq, Afghanistan etc....
Obama voters, life’s hard. But it’s harder if you’re stupid.
Considering he is an actor, I am sure that he may say something (one time) that would not agree with FREEPERS and he would be bashed just like the rest of Hollywood. He was great at reading words off a script but that is what he is an actor. I am not one to put actors on pedestals.
beat me to it Naps
I don’t get how pretending to be somebody else makes your opinion so important.
That was one good-lookin’ dude! I have a photo up on my wall from Stagecoach - when the Duke was a gorgeous young man. During a party several years ago, one of my guests “keyed” it. Really. I’ve never found out who it was and shudder to think I may still be friends with this person. Although defaced, it still hangs on my wall.
How old are you? The Duke was a truly great American as well as an amazing icon of male beauty and character. He stood up against the liberal elites of Old Hollywood in defense of the Viet Nam War and its despised vets, honored American traditions and values in his movies and survived the Big C to help fight it with his money and star power.
Personally, I fell in love with him when he was the only Hollywood star to stand up in defense of the raped and vilified Patty Hearst during her trial. The misogynistic left was laughing at her multiple rapes by the SLN and the Duke quietly said: leave that little girl alone. As a twenty year old girl myself I was gobsmacked by his kindness.
Some of you guys need to educate yourself.
Amen, mm.
Dear God, I almost had a stroke when I read some of these remarks. I need to calm down.
What happened to my country? What happened to this site?
Young people? Who don’t know their history? I truly had to leave FR for a while - I was so disgusted by the stupidity of those remarks.
He would ride into Afghanistan with Ben Johnson, Victor McGlaghlen and Ward Bond by his side. I’m pretty sure those four men could clean it up pretty well. Six guns, repeating rifles and a good horse. Thats all they’d need!!
I think he would take two guns in his hands and yell: Fill your hand, you son of a bitch!
And then Robert Duvall/Lucky Ned Pepper would say: Well, Rooster - I am shot to pieces!
