Need Help - What Is This Company Named NATEVEO?
5/21/11 | Self

An SUV with the word "Nateveo" [or something like it] just cruised through my neighborhood. It had a 5-foot tall rig attached to its roof.

Wondering if it is an imaging company ala Google Earth OR someone trying to capture Wi-Fi nets.

Tried Googling - no help there ...

Any thoughts ???

If you googled it, they already have all the information they need.

Yes, NAVTEQ is a GPS mapping company (one of the two primary companies that produce all the maps for 100% of the consumer GPS products out there.

Yer pics are just about spot-on ...

Looks like it is “Navteq” not “Navteo” - I only caught a glimpse of it as it passed ...

He said he was unsure as to the spelling on the truck. I know that this van has been seen in my neighborhood, likely developing a similar database to Google’s Street View.

Microsoft's Bing is also running streetview trucks around too, but the only direct images I can find are of the BING labeled ones, though I know that they're contracting in the US to someone else, just can't find the details.

There ya go, they’re a mapping company that supplies data to a load of in car navigation systems (and commercial delivery systems.) Between them and Bing, we’ll all have three shots of ourselves bending over to pick up the newspaper in the front yard.

Navteq also creates a lot of the map layers for google maps, yahoo maps, mapquest, etc.

Their products are pretty ubiquitous, Even if you’ve never heard of the company, you’ve used their work.
