Yes, NAVTEQ is a GPS mapping company (one of the two primary companies that produce all the maps for 100% of the consumer GPS products out there.

He said he was unsure as to the spelling on the truck. I know that this van has been seen in my neighborhood, likely developing a similar database to Google’s Street View.

Microsoft's Bing is also running streetview trucks around too, but the only direct images I can find are of the BING labeled ones, though I know that they're contracting in the US to someone else, just can't find the details.

Navteq also creates a lot of the map layers for google maps, yahoo maps, mapquest, etc.

Their products are pretty ubiquitous, Even if you’ve never heard of the company, you’ve used their work.
