Bin Laden was probably assassinated and W.H. is trying to wash itself of any culpability

I believe what Osama bin Laden little daughter said she saw was probably correct - we assassinated OBL. I don't have a problem with that- he's dead, good riddance.

However, I believe that the W.H. does have a problem about it, in that there are grave concerns about how it would play out in the international world and to the leftist. That's why Leon Panetta said that Seal Team 6 ultimately made the decision to kill OBL not the President, to wash the President of any culpability if news ever got out.

Quote: .... He said: "The authority here was to kill bin Laden. And obviously, under the rules of engagement, if he had in fact thrown up his hands, surrendered and didn't appear to be representing any kind of threat, then they were to capture him. But they had full authority to kill him.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/al-qaeda/8493391/Osama-bin-Laden-dead-Blackout-during-raid-on-bin-Laden-compound.html

Notice it was also convenient that there was supposedly a 25 minute blackout of live video or gap once the Seal Team was going through the compound, so the people in the Situation Room don't have a clue what went on and didn't see what happen.....if they didn't see anything then they are just ignorant of the true facts if anything ever came out that was negative, it's not their fault on what happen.

Although its strange since Hillary said she was sitting in the Situation Room looking at something for 35 minutes...we don't know what exactly she was looking at though /s

Since bin Laden is not a head of state, this wouldn’t qualify as an “assassination” by the strictest definition of the term. Also, since he is an enemy combatant who has declared war on the US, this combat operation would be perfectly legal in that context, and the Seal team was quite within the rules of engagement to use deadly force against him.

And now we find out that there was no firefight. Only one of the guys was even armed(and that was with a pistol, if you believe that, I bet he wasn’t armed either). Certainly no 20 minute firefight like they claimed. You can tell by looking at the Reuters photos of the other 3 bodies. If there was a huge firefight they’d be riddled with bullets. Instead, they look like they have 1 or 2 wounds each, fairly precise and accurate. Nothing like bodies sprayed with bullets you’d expect in a firefight. And I’m sure if there was a firefight there’d have been pictures of the walls of the compund and all the bullet holes. We haven’t seen any of that. Also explains how none of our guys were wounded or killed. It’d be very lucky if 20 guys were engaged in a 20 minute firefight in close quarters and none of them were hit. Of course, if there was no firefight and the one guy with the pistol was taken out right away, it explains the lack of injuries on our side. I bet Bin Laden’s daughter’s account was the accurate one. She also said he was killed on the ground floor, not the 3rd floor, which makes more sense.

Hopefully the real story comes out some time.

Since OBL qualifies as a rodent I would call it an extermination with extreme prejudice.

Yeah but allegedly he’s the CIC, buck stops there. (even though he and Pelosi had to be left out of the loop to get it done)

I think the deal Obama and Pelosi worked out with Pakistan to hold Osama there, didn’t work out too well for our military...

Neither was Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria.

Only this group could bungle the post-operation so badly. This is such an embarrassment. Frankly, it is a miracle these fools didn’t screw up the mission itself. I suppose when the military is the one doing the planning and have the preparation to execute their mission, the politicians’ ability to do damage is limited.

We assassinated Yamamoto (shot down his aircraft in a well planned mission in 1943) and no one in this country had much of a beef with it. He was the architect of Pearl Harbor. OBL was the architect of the WTC attack in 2001. War is hell you spineless pantywaist libs, deal with it. Killing Yamamoto shortened the war, saving both American servicemen AND Japanese civilian lives.

The difference was FDR was NOT a Jap sympathizer and Obama bin Laden IS a MUSLIM sympathizer.

0bama is not responsible? I thought he personally, brilliantly planned every detail of this operation. All the SEALs had to do was follow the Gutsy One’s scripted instructions displayed on little Teleprompters mounted on their helmets. /s

You are not allowed to shoot the enemy while they are trying to surrender.

So if OBL said “You got me—I surrender” then it would be illegal. I’m all for killing the guy...why let him chew away at tax payer money while Obama tries to figure out how to protect his rights in a US prison.

Killing him was the right thing, probably the ONLY thing that could be done.

Having the POS in cusody would put every American life in jeopardy; taking Americans hostage and killing them until he was released...

That aside, subjecting him to s l o w torture would be the next option.

Can you imagine what the liberal media and leftist organizations would have said if this had happened while President Bush was still in office? Most conservatives are supporting this action, even though it is a man we do not support, but liberals don’t have the decency to even support their own opinions - they base their reaction only on who is in office.

Obama was all over this in claiming responsibility for EVERYTHING that happened initially. As soon as the White House “facts” of how the operation went down started changing, Obama began the “distancing” process from the event.

At this rate, he’ll soon be making it look like the Seals did this all on their own. He’ll throw the Navy Seals under the bus in a New York minute if he thinks it politically advantageous.

I've been saying this for 2 days now. Obama is scared of a backlash from his left-wing base so he concocted a story of a fire fight! Could it be any more obvious! Obama is never honest. He was trying to maximize political points and it is backfiring!

I wouldn't care if Osama was on the ground begging for his life when they shot him, and most Americans would agree, but Obama and strongest supporters don't think like the rest of us!
