Well, actually no. Washington lost more battles than he won, but won the war by means of a Fabian strategy.

MacArthur came back when he was stronger.

And no, we did not fight our way back to the Yalu. We were AT the Yalu River when Peng DeHeui’s Chinese armies ambushed us. The First Marine Division was able to evacuate from the Chosin Resevoir after destroying seven Chinse divisions, but the rest of the U.S. Army was sent into ignominious retreat all the way back to the Han River.

It was left to Matthew Ridgeway to restore stability to the Korean Campaign in the spring of 1951.

So, your paralells with Palin don’t exactly hold up.

Best,

Chris

Sorry, but I made no parallels between Washington, MacArthur and our troops at Chosin in winter 1950-51. The other poster did. I de-bunked them by pointing out that in none of these instances did the key player take his ball and go home as Palin did when she quit.

Now, if you want to argue that Washington's winter at Valley Forge is the same as Palin's fold or that Mac's following orders to evacuate Corregidor is the same as Palin's "lame-duck - so I quit" performance then go right ahead.
