Did not MacArthur sorta lose the Philippines and then come back later? *****MacArthur followed orders and I don't recall his resignation speech in 1942 - how did it go, 'This is too tough so I'm going home'?*****

Darn that General Washington for retreating every time the British got close with their overwhelming numbers.******Darn that Washington for quitting, going back to Mount Vernon and writing a book...What? He didn't quit? Nevermind.******

Did not the US military get their butts kicked at the Chosin Reservoir and then come back later? ****** The US fought its way back up to the Yalu River? Anybody tell the ChiComs about this?

Well, actually no. Washington lost more battles than he won, but won the war by means of a Fabian strategy.

MacArthur came back when he was stronger.

And no, we did not fight our way back to the Yalu. We were AT the Yalu River when Peng DeHeui’s Chinese armies ambushed us. The First Marine Division was able to evacuate from the Chosin Resevoir after destroying seven Chinse divisions, but the rest of the U.S. Army was sent into ignominious retreat all the way back to the Han River.

It was left to Matthew Ridgeway to restore stability to the Korean Campaign in the spring of 1951.

So, your paralells with Palin don’t exactly hold up.

Best,

Chris
