Black eye for the University. If they want it back they will need to bring the Medical Center back under their umbrella, they will also get a boost from the CIC. The real problem is that the university is comprehensive and balkanize, also most of their research money comes from the usda(which the AAU doesnt count) so they will need to look at other ways of bringing in research dollars.

This is hilarious! Especially as a Mizzou alumni. When Mizzou was rumored as going to the Big 10, there was some consternation by many in the Big 10 that Mizzou did not have the “academic credentials” to be in a conference with the likes of Northwestern and Michigan. So they go out and get a corn school to join their conference, and this happens..guess its all about football then. So I hope the Big 10 enjoys the Nubs and Bo Pellini

According to the article, the only reasons given are that UNL was last in a set of research and funding criteria. Next year, some other school will be last. Will they drop that school too? Missing from the article is any explanation for why it was considered necessary to drop a school at all.
