In an act of naked self interest, Im taking a little bandwidth to announce the release of my newest book.
"Shooting The Bull" is a field guide to identifying political lies in real-time. The goal is to sharpen everybody's B.S. detectors. I was honored to have a tenured professor of communications contribute a foreword (Brian Patrick, whose book "Rise of the Anti-media" is well worth a read, though its academic pricing makes it a library request). His foreword accurately started:
In earlier centuries Guy Smith would have been designated a heretic and condemned to burn at the stake, unless of course he recanted. But after reading his book and having met the author, I dont believe him the recanting type. In any case, Shooting the Bull would certainly have been placed on the index of forbidden books.
Nice ... I think.
Perhaps a bit polarizing to some folks is that I use the gun control movement as my case study throughout. This comes from him having been the author/editor of Gun Facts for going on twelve years (www.GunFacts.info), so I had a large base of material to work from. Frankly, the gun control industry gave me all the raw material (which is why I sent a note of thanks and a copy of the book to Sarah Brady, Rahm Emanuel, and a few other hucksters).
Some folks may find my sense of humor a little harsh (no, really?), though one friend said it was akin to P.J. ORourke with a bit of attitude. As Brian Patrick noted in his foreword, I'm not shy about naming names and giving deserving people literary shin kicks (calling-out Sarah Brady, Dianne Feinstein, Barack Obama, Michael Bloomberg, Paul Helmke, Josh Sugarmann and others) and none too gently.
Oh, it also managed to extract two significant jacket endorsements, one from a 2008 vice presidential candidate ;->
Anyway, here are the links for anyone who wants to take a humorous tour of modern propaganda:

Bon chance, guy!
I know what you mean about BS meters. Obama sent mine ballistic in early 2008, and it hasn’t settled down yet!
bang bump
I want the book—I have a Sony Reader which you didn’t list. Are you not on with them?
Perhaps I can take my Reader over to Barnes and Noble and download it there.
I’m anxious to read it.

Thanks for the heads-up and Good Fortune with Your book.

Oh, good. Now the grabbers will see reason. /s
The Sony e-reader accepts ePub formats, so you could buy it from Google Books (there has been a glitch in that system, so if the e-book doesn’t appear there, wait a few days as it has to be uploaded again).
Nah, it is all about the saveables ... the independent and swing voters. That’s who I want, more than anyone else, to read the book.
