...Superman announces that he is going to give up his U.S. citizenship. Despite very literally being an alien immigrant, Superman has long been seen as a patriotic symbol of "truth, justice, and the American way," from his embrace of traditional American ideals to the iconic red and blue of his costume. What it means to stand for the "American way" is an increasingly complicated thing, however, both in the real world and in superhero comics, whose storylines have increasingly seemed to mirror current events and deal with moral and political complexities rather than simple black and white morality.

No sense in getting upset, especially those who don’t actually read comics. The status quo always wins in the end. Besides, his whole reasoning is to let the US avoid the blowback if he goes Jack Bauer on foreign bad guys.
What do you expect... his alternate personality was a journalist.
It’d be a good time to just boycott all their crap
I know that the folks at DC have destroyed a franchise with this news...but “Breaking News”? Seriously?
I agree with you that it’s an abomination.
Even Superman is tired of Obama’s BS.
He doesn’t want to be associated with this disaster of a government and who can blame him?
lol i knew someone would poo poo. I meant to put it under front page news and clicked the wrong tab.

What’s the big deal, he’s just following the example of our president and his wife.
Hold on. Since when was he ever an American citizen? His rocket crashed when he was a baby. That makes him an illegal alien (literally). Does he have a social security number under the name Supe R. Mann? Does he have a naturalization certificate? Does he vote, serve on juries or in the military? If so, under what name? Furthermore, does he have a separate citizenship and social security number for Clark Kent? If he renounces his citizenship, is Clark still a citizen? Is he collecting welfare as Supe R. Mann, while Clark Kent continues to work for the Daily Planet under a separate ID? Well, that’s the “American way” in Brooklyn, isn’t it?
Superman must be sniffing the kryptonite. I heard Lois Lane recently dumped him ever since he voted for Obama. She said he’s just been acting like some candyass pansy whining about Batman having more movies and not re-distributing his wealth to other less popular superheroes.
Will the next issue have him threatening to move to France if Barry doesn’t win the next election? He can join Mr. Baldwin there I guess.
Did he vote for Obama twice, once as Clark and once as Supe? That would figure. The “American Way” in Chicago. Maybe he did it a third time as Kal-el.
Actually, he worships Rao.
Rao is the first being to be born out of the void before the universe. Feeling lonely, he sought to bring order to the chaos from which he was born, and thus created the universe. After countless eons of ordering the cosmos, Rao created Krypton, a planet meant to be a jewel in his creation. Rao then created all the other Kryptonian gods from his own essence, and these godlings called him "Father Rao". Rao, in the time just before and after the destruction of Krypton, is thought of by the people of Krypton like God in Abrahamic Religions. He is all knowing, all powerful and eternal. He is served by his minor gods, who could be better understood as his angels. Each minor god is worshiped by a guild or caste on Krypton while all people worshiped Rao.

They made Superman a wimp in the cartoons (he gets beaten up all the time) and now they’ve made him Micheal Moore in the comics. When I was a kid reading Superman comics in the 60’s, he shoved planets around, but now he’s a wussy leftie.
Sounds like the Egyptian sun god Ra.
