Obama is primarily responsible for the Tea Party movement, despite the fact that it is the nemesis of the President and the political establishment.
The movement is predominantly composed of a small number of Libertarians and a large number of Conservatives. The Tea Party Conservatives are formerly Conservative Republicans who have given up the notion of having a moral government and are tired of funding an immoral government. They are disconnecting from the Republican establishment, which today seems more comfortable managing big government than ultimately reducing it. Herein lies their commonality with Libertarians. The Tea Party is thus at the vertex of this confluence that emphasizes as its central theme the notion that the U.S. must return to a Constitutionally limited federal government.
The catalyst of this political migration is Obamas stated goal of a fundamental transformation of America. Indeed, the Tea Party can most accurately be described as a popular revolt and instinctive response to such statements from this administration. Obamas speech on the national debt reinforced the logic behind the movement; the Presidents extremist economic goals further imperil our nations already dire fiscal situation.
"The fourth step in our approach is to reduce spending in the tax code. In December, I agreed to extend the tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans because it was the only way I could prevent a tax hike on middle-class Americans. But we cannot afford $1 trillion worth of tax cuts for every millionaire and billionaire in our society. And I refuse to renew them again..."

Government can’t be moral. It’s the very definition of a necessary evil, therefore it should be just small enough to be able to fulfill very strictly enumerated functions and no larger or more powerful.
the best way to model how large and powerful government (or any organization) should ever be is to envision the most evil and dangerous possible people running it.
What brought me into the Tea Party movement was the endless whining from the left about the “less fortunate” and how I am somehow personally responsible for all of the high school drop outs, drug addicts, habitual criminals, welfare brood mares, underfunded social causes, blah blah blah. While the parasites were living large without a care, I was working my ass off at two jobs to pay for school, I was putting the hours necessary to set the stage for a better life later on. I was investing in me. What I earn is based on my efforts, my time, my sense of responsibility, and my desire to remain free and unbeholden to any entity. When you take by force, my money, you have taken my time and my energy. You have taken a small part of my freedom, and I will fight to the death to preserve it. I am politically incorrect and obnoxiously insensitive. Your life isn’t as good as mine? Screw you. Work harder. I don’t envy the successful, I emulate their efforts in hopes of joining them eventually, and I won’t let any person or government deprive me of the opportunity to achieve my goals.
Amen.
Great tagline BTW.
