NEW YORK Did a calico cat from New Jersey swim across New York Harbor?
The mystery surrounds a white, orange and black feline that arrived last weekend on Governors Island in New York.
Security guards found the cat on the island's north shore. Its fur was salty, matted and caked with seaweed.

Usually, this is known as brining. So, maybe it escaped from a Chinese restaurant instead of swimming from NJ.

Incredible story...

Weird. The comments on this thread are the same as the comments after the AP story.
Except for the armadillos.

Everything’s better with armadillos.

I’d bet some hard hearted bassturd threw it in the river, like some drop their pets out in the country. Thats how my daughter got all her barn cats....spend a small fortune getting them all fixed after 2 had litters...

Love that picture. A couple of years ago, someone propped a dead raccoon against a guardrail post, stuck a beer can between its legs and a cigarette in its mouth.

If the feline in question is found to be a Jersey resident, I want to know the answer to the essential Jersey-to-Jersey meeting question:
“What exit”

When I was a little kid, I had a big black cat. On two different occasions I took it over to the river that ran next to my grandparents house to throw it in just to see if it could swim.......
Using my shoulder and back, the cat showed me how they are able to climb trees.
