A friend who was with the San Francisco Giants fan who was brutally beaten on Opening Day described a scene that went from "intimidating to hostile."

Appearing on the "Mason and Ireland" show Monday on 710 ESPN Radio in Los Angeles, Corey Maciel said that approaching Dodger Stadium in Giants gear that day was not comfortable from the get-go.

"It was pretty hostile just walking up to the stadium -- it was intimidating, to say the least," he said. "There were a lot of Dodgers fans angry that we were there. We got things thrown at us the whole time we were there -- peanuts, hot dogs, wrappers -- which we also expected."

"We were walking out and the mood definitely changed from intimidating to hostile once we got into the parking lot," Maciel said. "We were actually out there, we were saying great game, shaking some Dodgers fans hands. There were some that were yelling profanities, and just being rowdy. That's how it started.

Hispanic Americans are often forced to live in these gang-ridden neighborhoods, can’t do the right thing (report criminals) or their own kids will be killed... Half the time their kids get into trouble too. I know a wonderful woman whose daughter was “taken” at 14 by a gang, semi-voluntarily, but a 14-year-old doesn’t have the wisdom to know why she shouldn’t go with these creeps.

I imagine good Latino Dodgers fan are very upset indeed about this thug behavior at the games.

No, no. Your decision not to go to away games is WISE. But it’s unacceptable that we — not you personally — have to make a decision like that, if we live in a civilized society.

I guess we don’t, though.

And do you know why? Political Correctness. It brain-damaged Bryan, and it is gonna kill the rest of us. If everyone in Dodger Stadium were white, the cops would not allow this thuggery. For decades people have bent over backward, saying that poverty causes bad behavior, and it’s everyone else’s fault that these people are poor. Skin color and ethnicity have long TRUMPED decent civilized behavior. They get bonus points just for being “ethnic” and there are lower expectations for their behavior.

Yeah, I understand you now, sorry. It is a darn shame. PC indeed plays a role. The soft bigotry of low expectations can have a “hard landing.” :(

Yeah, that is for sure. His buddy just did an interview on KFI AM now. Chilling to hear how unprovoked and cowardly that attack was.
