I was trolling over at Yahoo Answers and see that there are various questions and replies from alleged military members and spouses claiming that they got their LES (not true, LESs come out at the end of the month) and that it shows half pay.
Most of the folks asking and responding have signed up today..... 2 reasons that I think this is a troll campaign:
1. I was in during the 95 shut down and we got our pay.
2. Why would DFAS issue ½ pas LESs if there is no shut down…yet.
But you are getting paid. Maybe you won't be covered after the 8th. Maybe you will...I'd save the gloat (or venting) until we know.
Obviously, this action is cause for concern, but I think DFAS is doing the best that they can. At least they are guaranteeing a payout for 1-8 April.

Do you happen to know about military retirement pay?
I am retired military and curious if military retired pay is to be stopped, and if this also affects VA disability payments.
Fortunately, I am well employed and paid well in the civilian sector so my VA and military retired pay are not essential.

If he isn’t getting paid after the 8th, HE ISN’T GETTING PAID!!!! Your statement that he is, is a LIE!!!! How about YOU not get paid after the eighth and we will all just sit here and tell you that you HAVE been paid. Will that pay your bills????????????

Uh...no...I am NOT getting paid for any days after the 8th until they sign a budget. That was my point all along.
We DO know. We HAVE known. It's what some of us have been trying to tell people. We will get paid evantually (IOW: We will get back pay)...but not until they 1) Sign the 2011 Budget, 2) Sign a Defense Appropriations bill or 3) Sign another CR.
It's pretty clear. No need to save the gloat. We were right. Those who were denying it were saying we would get full paychecks throughout any shutdown and for the duration. They were obviously wrong.

I didn't lie. No one knows if the military will be paid after the 8th. I said that he is being paid up to the 8th. I said he may or may not be paid for the 9-15. After that, he will know if he was paid.
For now, however worrisome and stressful, it is an open question.

You are right...I may be paid on the 15th for the 9th - 15th.
But only if they pass a budget. If they don't...I won't and neither will anyone else. That is a fact.
Here is a partial letter from my comptroller explaining that (and check your freepmail):
DFAS systems was told by their lawyers no pmts past the 8th. For those with duty projected from the 9th forward, DFAS is paying everything they are allowed, thru the 8th, and setting up pmts for beyond that to release just as soon as they are given the go-ahead. [me: Which is when they get a budget or CR]
Just to emphasize, one thing that didn't change from earlier info is that DFAS will release all the pmts due from 9 thru 15 April just as soon as they can. DFAS has everything processed, they just can't hit "send."
Now...they can't hit "SEND" until they get new money.
When I was in, we got paid once a month. First advance was $26 in cash - a twenty, a five and a dollar (which went to that SOB they called a barber who shaved my head). Paychecks after that came once a month for about $94.......didn’t go up until I hit two years. I left 8+ years later making a little over $600/month....my state tax deduction is more than that now.....

Pay is not due until the 15th. You can't say that it was cut until then.

Due to the potential shutdown of the federal government, we have “taken down” all Leave and Earnings Statements (LESes) or “Advice of Pays” for Active Duty Military and Reservists. We will re-post LESes when we receive more information on the shutdown or enacted legislation that authorizes pay beyond April 8. Assuming this authority becomes available, we anticipate paying both active and reserve members their full pay for duty served from April 1-15 on April 15.
At this point, it is a paper drill. There is more info if you have a DFAS login. You have one, right?

As I said last month...for us senior guys with a savings...its an inconvenience. It's our airmen, privates and seamen that will suffer here. They all live paycheck to paycheck. They cannot afford this. My family will still eat (thank goodness I have a HUGE garden) and our life won't change that much...even if this drags out for a month. But that little wife sitting at Ft Bragg with 2 kids who is holding it together while her PFC is off at Afgahnistan...that is a different story.
The mil pay website is overloaded. My daughter can’t get on to check. lol
I was in earlier. I bet folks are getting of duty this afternoon and trying to get it.
