Right after the Obamas moved into the WH, there was a nationwide 'hunt' for the right breed of dogs for the daughters. The media treated it as a heart warming story, no matter those other top priorities facing the new president.
Two years later, has anyone seen the dog as a beloved family pet anywhere? I've never seen the dog being included in the family R&R. Is it another prop, like Michelle's victory garden?
I do my best to not show a sense of revulsion when people stop their cars to merrily ask, "Are those Obama dogs?"
Maybe he met the same fate as “Buddy” Clinton. He jumped on to the first lady’s lap....and froze to death.

They are protecting his privacy, as it is unfair to expose children and animals as targets political cheapshots, excpet when expedient for the parent/owner.
Besides, it keeps the public from learning that the dog is smarter than his master.
Muslims can have USEFUL dogs, that are not to be pampered and petted; and which must NEVER enter the home.
In a tradition found in the Sunni hadith book, al-Muwatta, Muhammad states that the company of dogs voids a portion of a Muslims good deeds.[Wiki]
And Afghan Hounds come from...you guessed it. Wonderful dogs, but very independent. I love sight hounds, thanks for the lovely pic.
Also a racing/hunting dog that is why they are prized.
“Frank?”
As in “Uncle” Frank Marshall Davis? Really!?
I’ve just seen photos of Obama’s apparent brain surgery (transplant?), and his dog hasn’t been seen since. hmmmmmm......
So where does ‘moose’ coming from?
Are the First Daughters trying to make fun of (Palin)Mooseburger?
The one on the right is a cute little beauty.
That other one, we have to be careful that she has all the current (rabies) shots.
Interesting..... what is a gaze, sight hound
My experience is with an emaciated Saluki that came in off the desert to our shop in Saudi Arbia to have her pups. She was very wary of people but accepted the wood crate they set up for her. They fed her and gave her grease. She was near starved at first.
I didn’t see her after the feeding treatment but she fattened up and had long silky blond hair I’m told.
“The media treated it as a heart warming story,”
And retailers treated it as a $$-sucking ploy.
I never even saw toys of “Buddy”, or “Socks”, from Klintoon’s WH days, but I’ve seen tons of “BO” - rare breed, no less - toys.
Doesn't look like anybody bothered to train the dog.
They are too stupid to know that.
Gaze hounds fasten their eyes, rather than their nose, on the prey to run it down. Greyhounds, Salukis, and related breeds are sight or gaze hounds.
That’s why they use a mechanical ‘rabbit’ for Greyhound races. Once they fasten their gaze on prey, they become ‘blind’ to anything else.
I’ve seen one trip over a small obsturction the prey went over; then do it again in the same spot the next day...and the next....
I have only heard of the dog going on one vacation. Have heard nothing for a long time.
Which one is the dog?
