This is not related to AI but I have to vent, please forgive me.
In IL as I’m sure in many other states welfare recipients receive a card called a Link card. Each month they get x amount of dollars in food and x amount in cash (yes, cash) on their card. Free money, basically.
I work in the grocery industry so I see egregious abuse of the system with this. They are able to take cash off the card and spend it on cigarettes, alcohol, basically whatever they want.
So a woman comes in to the store and gets $400 dollars in cash off her card then turns right around and wires the money via Western Union to AFRICA!! That’s right, to family living in Africa.
So not only are our hard earned tax dollars being handed out to these folks but THEN, the money isn’t even being reinvested in our country!!
Is it just me, or does this seem like it ought to be a form of fraud???
This kind of ridiculous idiocy is why this state and this country is going broke.
Help me out, am I out of line in my outrage at this?

And why the f does someone get THAT much money in cash anyway? Must have a dozen kids or something.
These young girls come through buying lobster tails,shrimp, steaks carrying Coach purses and expensive cell phones, nails done. It disgusts me to no end.
I can’t afford to buy lobster tails on a regular basis or buy a Coach purse and I work hard for my money.
I see them getting cash with these cards too. It makes me SO MAD that they have these discreet cards to avoid the SHAME of living off taxpayers. I would happily dole out the cards and $$ to our seriously disabled Americans. I want them to live decent lives without shame. But for the general welfare recipients, they should be jumping through hoops of shame and they should not be allowed to cash out their cards. It should be really bad to need welfare.
I am blown away that they are sending their taxpayer dollars back to their home countries!!!!!!!! Yesterday on KFI they were listing how much % of immigrant families are on some form of welfare. From Mexico and other central Am countries it was well over 75%! From England it was like 5%. It’s so wrong. We are in debt for foreigners??? Often illegals???? When I went to school in France, my visa specified that I had to receive at least a certain amount of French Francs per month so they would be sure they would never have to support me. Why can’t we do that? Oh, and CLOSE our borders. The Mexican gov gets tons of this money the Mexicans send back. They exported their poverty - how clever of them. They have no responsibility to their poor - they milk them like dairy cows.

No, you are not out of line. A few times I’ve accidentally gone to Super Wal-Mart on the day Link cards are filled. OMG The stuff people try to buy! They will do 8 billion transactions so that the alcohol doesn’t come up on their cards. I was stuck in line for 15 minutes behind one women while she first argued with the cashier that she should be able to buy a rotisserie chicken with her Link card and when the cashier wouldn’t back down (you cannot buy cooked food with the Link card, I guess), instead of putting it back, she and her 3 obese daughters all were searching their purses and pockets to look for the $5 and paid in change.
There are people who fall on hard times and need help, I have no problem with that at all. But the abuse of the system is ridiculous.

I saw a couple my age in their 30’s using a link card at caputos. Man was i pissed. Russian couple bitching it would not work.
Then Obama has the balls to get on TV and bitch about those mean Republicans when I KNOW and SEE what I do on a daily basis.

I agree. I know we kind of bash Europeans, but occasionally on certain things they have more balls then Americans and don't care about who is offended. And I'm totally jealous that you got to study in France.
