Husband pranks his wife after telling her NOT to fool around with the M1911, knowing full-well that she'd do the exact opposite.

Agreed.

He said at the beginning of the video that he’d been outside with her for 30 minutes showing her how to shoot it. Perhaps he knew it wasn’t loaded because he had just unloaded it, double-checked it, and confiscated all of the ammo before telling her not to mess with it and leaving her alone with the gun. (I wouldn’t leave a loaded gun or an empty gun with ammo at hand in the presence of someone who just learned how to shoot.)

If he 100% that it wasn’t loaded, then it may have been a valuable lesson. Without more information, I’d have to say it wasn’t funny at all and in fact was dangerous.

way too staged. Not buying it..

+1. It was also stupid. Skulls-full-of-mush copycats may get someone killed or injured.

Agreed, guns are not playthings and that 'trick' was a bad idea (but the video was funny, heheh).

I still laugh about a family story that taught a valuable lesson.

Shortly after my grandparents got married, my grandfather came home early from work one day and decided to sneak into the house and scare my grandmother. Well, he succeded because my grandmother heard him open the back door and she hid in the closet - with her pistol (never found out what kind).

Grandpa looked around the house and not finding her in the main rooms, decided to check the closet. By this time he was feeling kinda guilty, thinking he might have really scared her too much, so he was going to immediately apologize as soon as he found her. When he opened the closet door, he found himself staring down the barrel of her pistol as he heard the hammer fall with a loud click.

Fortunately, the gun misfired, otherwise I wouldn't be able to tell this story because my mother would not have been born.

Needless to say, he never tried to scare her again, but my grandmother did learn a few new words that day, LOL.

I'm a fair shot myself, thanks to my champion husband, as well as concealed carry. The video was hysterically funny but really not a good idea.

Did he let the neighbors in on this little “joke?” Not funny at all. This is just the kind of irresponsible behavior that gives a bad name to all good, solid, safe responsible gun owners. Guns are nothing to PLAY with.

I don't care if it is an inert replica or dummy. Scaring someone is a TERRIBLE way to teach firearms. That woman might never want to go shooting again. Incredibly stupid. If you have to use pranks to teach gun safety you should not be anywhere near firearms.

I have to agree with your point. It’s not something I would do. I was trying to find a plausible explanation for the stupidity, but your point confirms my original impression: it wasn’t funny; it was dangerous.

agree! She had to have been playing arounding with that gun for a long time in order for him to introduce the idea of his video prank, to video tape her actually sitting there playing with the gun, setting the camera, going outside and making sure the camera is catching him, incredible amount of planning, don’t buy it!
