Since 2008 Our country has gone through some harsh economic changes and a new president. Both have caused this nation to reflect on its heritage and its future, therefore I would like to offer
A Challenge to the Tea Party
One of the leadership principles espoused by a fairly new leadership movement (developed by John Maxwell the foremost recognized leadership guru) Equip (is this:)
Constantly lifting up that which you want to promote and value will bring people in to do it also. (repeat)
One of the reasons the Tea Party has been effective in electing new leaders in Congress and in the State Government is your persistence in voicing your agenda.
The opposition would do anything to undermine, misrepresent, and intimidate those in this country who are uncomfortable with the way they are being treated yet really dont feel they have any power or resources to make changes.
They hear the conservative mandates of the Tea Party and what seem to be indisputable facts, but when the opposition accosts those who report these facts the common American is left with many questions, doubts, and uncertainty.
Last November, the Tea Partys message resonated in the minds of the American patriots that truly believe in what our forefathers penned in the Declaration of Independence and legislated in the Halls of Congress; Government by the people and for the people.
Hence many Republican members to the House of Representatives were elected as well as a few in the Senate. New hope was birthed and a mandate to return to legislative accountability was given.
There arose energetic leaders who were motivated to challenge the long-time power base of those who controlled things in Congress for years. New life in the halls of Congress was evident. However, time is an effective tool to quench enthusiasm. The more things are put off; the less conversation on the agenda that got those men and women elected; the more it benefits those that like things the way it was.
Passion precedes vision; but its a burden that precedes passion. The burden is the spiraling loss of freedom in this country. It is being usurped by big Government. The burden is the overwhelming debt our country is accumulating. The burden is in knowing that our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will be the ones harnessed with these overwhelming burdens.
With such a great burden staring us in the face, surely there must be some passionate people who not only see the destructiveness this would cause, if left unchecked, but also see a vision of the future in which our country is united once more and a vision of prosperity similar to that following World War II and the era of President Eisenhower in the early 50s (and later Ronald Reagan in the 80s).
Now I am not a historian, nor am I a political pundit. I am, however, familiar with our economic history and have had the privilege of being raised in the last one-half century. I served my country as a soldier in Vietnam. I had the experience of being a successful entrepreneur. I raised a family in a middle-class environment. I have a strong faith in God and am a servant-leader to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I am an optimist, not a pessimist. I believe in the USA and will fight again for this country if necessary.
I believe I can make a difference because I believe in myself. I do not have any special gifts or talents but I know the source of my supply when the time comes for me to acquire them.
I believe strongly in what the prophet Isaiah recorded in the Bible when God spoke to him and said, (Isaiah 55:10-11) As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
The message of the Tea Party has been spoken. Those elected to uphold it have been sent to accomplish what you have desired. Their purpose is to complete the assignment given to them and for which they have been elected and sent.
The key to doing this is to constantly lift up that which you want to promote and value. Those elected must be constantly reminded.
They must also be encouraged to speak out and speak against the status quo. The voice of victory is the voice that will never quit speaking. I trust what the Tea Party has initiated will continue, but with an even stronger voice. In my Bible the voice of victory is Almighty God. He and He only will have the last word.
May we be truly united as One Nation Under God.
(Let us pray for our Nation)
Let them know we know it cannot be done overnight but that we are with them and trust them to NEVER forget their ideals and their spoken commitment to their voters.
It can be discouraging and overwhelming to be in DC trying to honor your beliefs and have to fight not only within party but against a democrat minority that has the press's ear and favor.
