This is an old science fiction story come true. I recall a first person narrative of a guy lamenting how his pal fell for some kind of fake woman, an android or something. He goes on about it, then at the end he rhapsodizes about his REAL girlfriend who is not to be compared with such fakery. Of course, we are given to understand that he is enjoying the same delusion.
