It would be nice if he could find a way to break the light speed barrier, and whip up a FTL drive at the same time. Then maybe we could get some serious interest in exploring new planets.

Get busy, kid!!

“Anyone who solves these will be in line for a Nobel Prize,” he added.

Too bad the award has been so cheapened by the "accomplishments" of Algore and zerO.

Sounds like a genuine prodigy. Einstein also was slow to talk, would probably have been diagnosed with Asberger's, and was a gifted musician(violinist). Funny how gifts for math and physics seem to correlate with musical talent.

I don't believe that Einstein ever had an I.Q. test. However, I believe that 170 is better than 99.9% of the population, which doesn't mean that Einstein's I.Q. wasn't higher. We shall see.

I'm looking forward to seeing what this boy may accomplish.

Well he needs to make a speech about the evils of George Bush and the Iraq war, but then yeah he's probably a shoe in....

There’s no concept of ‘proof’ in stuff like this. There’s evidence. And relativity has been shown to be valid in every experimental context its been examined in. Besides what’s the alternative?

Then he'll have to stand in line behind Al Gore and B. Hussein Obama, the greatest geniuses of our time..........

I can’t separate the media hype from the reality. What I’ve seen on YT of the kid only shows him explaining calculus. BFD. That’s not proving/disproving anything. He does have a different idea of how elements are created in stars, but he hasn’t developed the mathematical knowledge yet to work it out. If he has an idea that is radically different from Einstein’s, then he’ll have to work with a few other experts to determine an experiment that can prove it, like General Relativity predicted gravitational lensing and was proven true.

As far as breaking the speed of light, the key will be to better define gravity, since it is the only observable phenomena that appears to be instantaneous.

The kid was probably Einstein in a past life. Just continuing the work he started.

Well, Bobby, here we have a question from a young man in Indiana who is the same age as you. ‘Is the speed of light constant?’ Hmmm. You know the Mr. Science motto, ‘Doing Is Knowing!’ We’ll be using the headlights in the Mr. Sciencemobile, a 1973 AMC Gremlin. Here’s a stopwatch, Bobby. I’ll say ‘go’ and you see how long it takes for the light to reach you. ‘Go!’ That seems pretty fast. Now, I’ll drive the Sciencemobile into the studio at 60 miles per hour and yell ‘go’ and we’ll see if there’s any difference. OK. 40...50...60...’Go!’ Brakes!Brakes!Brakes! I knew I should have gone to Meineke. Bobby! Are you awake? He’s breathing so let’s take a look at the stopwatch. Wow. It didn’t move. Once again, science triumphs over superstition! ‘Is the speed of light constant?’ The answer is no...it’s faster if you click on the brights. I think that Bobby would prefer that you send donations to The Mr. Science Show in lieu of flowers for his hospital room.

I’ll wait and see. Too many times we have been disappointed by such claims.

Being a genius does not mean that you can prove Einstein was wrong.
