Penn was put on 36 months probation, required to perform 300 hours of community service and undergo 36 hours of anger management classes, and ordered to stay 100 yards (91 meters) away from the photographer.

Penn and Madonna married in 1985, and the jibe was exactly the kind of low verbal blow which Madonna endured during their toxic four-year marriage. She has said that Penn all but destroyed her with his drinking, moods and taste for pornography.
And then there was his constant criticism and violence. Once, he tied her to a chair and beat her. Another time, he hit her with a baseball bat. He threatened to shave her head. He chased her out of their hotel room.
This is narly, dude, as Spicoli would say. Penn’s only good role was Spicoli and that’s before everybody knew he was a traitor. I always thought this chick was one of the hottest around, so it’s a shame she would hook up with such a loser. They say Penn is in Haiti trying to score brownie points doing the whole humanitarian thing. Maybe they can be the new Brangelina.
