FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Vince Mariano (561) 866-0136

Davie, Florida, (March 28, 2011)– South Florida small business owner and 2010 Republican candidate for Congress Karen Harrington has declared her candidacy for United States Congress in Florida’s 20th Congressional District in 2012.

As a first-time candidate in 2010, Harrington garnered nearly 40 percent of the vote in her race against incumbent Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.

“Today, I formally announce my campaign for U.S. Congress. For those of you who know me, you know me as a neighbor and small business owner who has been privileged to serve the Broward community for nearly four decades. You also know that I am fully committed to ensuring that the people’s business throughout the District is not needlessly stifled by government intrusion. As I’ve had the opportunity to listen and meet with the residents of the district out on the campaign trail over the past few years, it is very clear that your concerns mirror my concerns about both our economy and the direction of our country, and we can no longer remain on the sidelines as our country slides into further debt and fiscal insolvency.

“My campaign for U.S. Congress is not premised on towing a party line or walking in lock step with the Republican establishment. The duty that comes before all others is safeguarding the prosperity and liberties of the people of the 20th Congressional District, and I will never waver in my resolve from that commitment.

“It is my intention to broadly communicate our campaign’s ideas to all voters throughout District 20, regardless of party affiliation, as to how we can preserve our prosperity and our liberties through common sense and principled solutions that will put our country back on a fiscally sustainable path. I will be a tireless advocate for proven ideas that roll back government regulation and taxation and allow South Florida’s small businesses to prosper. Ours will be a campaign of new ideas and real hope for the future direction of our country, and I intend to take our campaign’s message directly to the district’s constituents early and often.”

This is great, considering she ran with little money and help last time and yet she managed to get a bit over 40% from DWS!

Time to kick DWS out of office, consider helping out this wonderful conservative lady and let's all start by donating!

Wasserman-Schultz is a Barbara Boxer in the making. I hope this campaign is successful.

A little redistricting help from the GOP controlled Florida legislature might make it easier for her this time out..

It’s Broward county. Republican party is the third party (independents are constituting more than Reps).

A lovely, southern, American woman, who is experienced, well out of adolescence, and into adulthood is running against a Junior-High-School incumbent from New York who took up residence in Florida to represent the
other Junior-High-Schoolers in her district.

IMHO

Thanks for the ping! Great News! This time Karen will send the Socialist/DEM Debbie Wasserman Schultz packing!

We all know the DEM machine will be doing their dirty work to keep Schultz in Congress, but this time they won't succeed. We will also demand that Debbie Schultz debate Karen Harrington to give the voters of District 20 a clear choice!

I hope all Florida Freepers will join me in making a donation to Karen Harrington today! Please donate what you can and remember that small donations really help too!

In your opinion, why did Harrington lose last year?

Wasser Dork was running scared last year—I was able to confront the Pelosi poodle PERSONALLY on election day. KH had her nervous, and it would be nice to have the liberal looking over her shoulder the next couple of years instead of bashing Americans who .love the Constitution like she does on Fox News constantly.

Karen Harrington has the same problem that Congressman Allen West did the first time he ran for Congress. No media attention, no support from the RNC, and having to go up against a well organized DEM Money Machine!

Even though Karen won the Republican Primary, she was not given support from the RNC, and the Media was of course solid in Debbie Wasserman Schultz's corner.

The DEM money machine was just too much to overcome since it was hard to get voters to learn about Karen.
Schultz was also allowed to avoid having ANY debates with Karen, so the voters of District 20 really had no way of knowing how wonderful Karen is.

And I am sorry to say, many Conservatives in District 20 would not make donations to Karen as they felt she didn't have a chance against Schultz. I hope all those who don't like Schultz will help Karen Harrington go to Congress this time!

“My campaign for U.S. Congress is not premised on towing a party line"

Who is proofreading this? The phrase is to "toe the line", as in put your toes on the line/line up as ordered, not "tow the line". While it's a common mistake, it looks bad on a PR, especially a major one like a candidacy announcement.

I will be looking forward to meeting you during this upcoming campaign season! Hubby and I were down in Lauderdale on many occasions last time around, with our feet on the ground in support of Karen and other great Conservatives. We were knocking on doors, putting signs up and doing whatever we could to help elect Conservatives.
We will be down there again from St.Pete, and will be in other parts of Florida to help send the remaining 6 Socialist/DEM House members from Florida out of Congress!

We Floridians have 6 US House members and Bill Nelson to send packing to make Florida rid of Socialist/DEMS. Then we work to take on any Republicans who develop RINOism!

Well, does she have a chance against Nancy’s Poodle in that Dhimmi district?

I’d love to see that airhead hit the road but unless I’m wrong that’s a gerrymandered ‘rat district.

It was 60-38 last time out, but the lines will be redrawn.
It is surrounded by districts 17 (Wilson D, won unopposed), 19 (Deutsch D, won 63-37), 22 (West R, won 54-46), and 23 (Hastings D, won 79-21). It looks like a *tiny* finger of 23 separates 20 from 21 (Mario Diaz-Balart R, won unopposed).

The only one of these districts with any surplus population is the 19th (about 40k), with the 17th deficient about 40K, 20th deficient by 5k, 21st deficient by 3k, 22nd deficient by 2k, and 23 deficient by 12k.
