A friend of mine said I "needed" a Facebook account over a year ago, so I tried it out. So I tried it out and found that most people talked about their inane daily activities. Who cares if they are waiting in an airport or doing laundry? Does anyone else hate being connected all of the time? Not to mention the fact that you will be contacted by people you do not want to hear from anymore. And you must respond. Reject them, or just ignore them. Either way, it is awkward.
If you want to talk about something, start a blog.
If you want to contact me, email me.
I still do not understand the fascination with Facebook (or Twitter)...... and I am someone who grew up in a computer.
Was curious how many other people tried it but dumped it. W
BWAHAHAHAHA!
l have an account using my first and midde name. I use it to follow my children and their kids, Sarah Palin, and Dennis Miller.
If it's a problem as some say, why delete it, why not just stop using it?
In 2008, we got our @sses handed to us. One of the ways we were out-organized was in social networks.
How many people will read what you post here on FR? Of them, how many aren’t already on our side? Don’t get me wrong, I love Free Republic, and am thankful every day that JimRob built this tool for us. But most people will never be FReepers. This is a place for us to talk amongst ourselves, and get news and talking points. Facebook gives us a place to spread that message.
Facebook gives you an opportunity to post a couple of articles a day, that will be seen, and maybe read, by people who don’t think about politics as much as we do.
I have had people come up to me, who never comment on things I post, and thank me for opening their eyes. My FRiends, by your interest, you are called to be missionaries. Go forth and evangelize. Don’t just hang around here.
Never had a Facebook account and doubt it ever will.
And I’m not an old coot (yet), having been born in 1973.
One thing I find fascinating about FReepers is that if there is a piece of technology they don’t embrace, there must be some kind of insidious conspiracy behind it, or they’re one of the enlightened few who have not fallen for it.
How to “delete” Facebook in one easy step:
Change your preferred language to Chinese.
Worked for me.
Facebook has kept me more in touch with friends and relatives who no longer live close enough to see regularly. If you dont want to hear from stupid people, ignore them. Its pretty much like real life. If you dont want to hear from idiots, dont answer the phone.
Da boooogie man is gonna get you if you let it, I don't....especially the FB one.
The FB boooogie man is Saudi alwakaweed that has taken over all of TV, owns Sean Hannity, and Beck and BOR, prolly your Grandma too.
I deactivated mine two days ago. To me, it’s the voluntary divulging of personal information to the world, and I won’t be complicit in giving any more to the government.
The only benefit I’ve seen is the ability to get in touch with old friends from grammar & high school.
Adios Facebook.
If I could “Like” your comment, I would.
I agree - Vicki makes excellent use of the medium.
“I actually like it because I can link youtube videos to it, or articles of a political nature and otherwise.”
I went on Facebook prior to my high school reunion to get info about the reunion and connect with classmates. After the reunion I discovered that many of them were libtards so I now upload anti-liberal and anti-Zero youtube videos just to see their heads explode.
Re: “Of course youll find with FB once you post stuff about your politics youll find the friends you have who
disagree will get on your case about how silly you are, etc.
But it can be good if done properly.”
****
In leftist CA I found out quickly that my ‘friends,’ some of many years, were so upset by my “dangerous, vile, whacked out” political posts that they had to ‘unfriend’ me. As a result, I have all NEW friends and it’s worked out just fine. I like the quick back and forth of Facebook — and use it ONLY for political discourse now.
The tin foil hatter quotient IS definitely trending upward here.
As for myself, an old "geezer" retired guy, it's a waste of time as far as I'm concerned.
Not to mention a possible invasion of my privacy. imho.
You can block those. Saved my sanity.
Pffft! How dare you post such blasphemy in lieu of a irrational, idiotic rant!
I got rid of mine MONTHS ago. Talk about a time-waster.
I agree. The enlightened seem to only be enlightened because they can’t manage to make it work for them. Which is fine. I personally enjoy heckling friends and family.
I make trolling posts for people to bite on. I bite on trolling posts all in good fun. I am surprised that I haven’t been unfriended by anyone. LOL (laugh out loud, for the enlightened).
