what's better KFC vs Popeye

We just had Popeyes for dinner. There was a lively discussion regarding it compared to KFC. I'd like your thoughts. I say you can't beat the red beans and rice though.

I love Popeye’s!!! The KFC next to where I work in Rockville had to be shut down by the health department.

Never been to Popeyes. Haven’t been to KFC in decades. My former MIL always fed KFC when we were over for dinner on a Sunday. She was lazy that way. But, I liked KFC as far as fast food goes, so it wasn’t a big deal.

Yet, if we want prepared chicken we’ll pick it up at Logli’s or our local grocery. The salads are good, so are the beans and potatoes. And, it’s cheaper. But we don’t do prepared chicken often. Disclaimer: Not all Logli’s are comparable...

I love KFC original, but I’m not so fond of KFC side dishes. The one time I tasted Popeye’s chicken, I was unimpressed. Since the only reason to go into such a place would be for the chicken, I have no idea how Popeye’s side dishes compare.

Popeyes is the best. A better rags to riches story too about Copelands life and times. I understand when he sold, he kept exclusive distribution to the spices. So his company was still making money.

I also understand that KFC is going crazy in China (People line up overnight to buy their chicken) What I dont understand is why Popeyes isn't making inroads there. (Chinese would go nuts for the spicy chicken)

KFC is the worst fried chicken on earth. Their success baffles me. I’ve had Popeye’s a few times. It’s not great, but it’s better than KFC. I like Church’s and Bojangles. I think Bojangles is the best.

I have never heard of Popeyes or the others, but KFC (or Col. Sander's as we used to call it) is not as good as it used to be. Their coleslaw is very good though.

The best “fast food” chicken I ever ate was at “Lee's Fried Chicken”. The best.

The best “regional chain” fried chicken I ever ate was at “Bushes Fried Chicken” in Temple, TX.

The best fried chicken I ever at period, was a AQ Chicken in Arkansas. Greasy stuff, but absolutely wonderful.

I was an outside salesman for 30+ years and learned how to gage a restaurant in an unfamiliar area. “The Parking Lot Test”. Ignore the building or restaurant name. The busiest parking lot always wins. The locals know where the good food values are.
