We just had Popeyes for dinner. There was a lively discussion regarding it compared to KFC. I'd like your thoughts. I say you can't beat the red beans and rice though.
Beautiful.
Their butter burger is excellent. Their frozen custard too.
My Son started off working there.
He takes great pride in knowing how to make that frozen custard .
“I have these paper towels I take with me and let them sit and soak the grease”
Reminds me of Dr. Nick on the Simpsons, when advising Homer on what foods are best to gain weight.
“Rub it against a piece of paper. If it turns clear, it’s your window to weight gain!”
Yes, there are lots of mods. One handy rule of thumb, is that the Mods are more tolerant of silly posts at night and on the weekends. Well, at least as long as they aren’t by newbies and posted in News/Activism :)
LOL...”pee on hands reference”...:)
Heb Deli....Oh man, I had some fried chicken from there last week and it was among the best of all time.
I had a pint of coleslaw and it had a really sharp cabbage taste that I have never experienced before. Much as I like KFC coleslaw, the HEB coleslaw wasn’t just better than KFC, it took my breath away it was so good. Established a new category.
Popeye’s got catfish; no contest.
What about BBQ Bills?
Popeye gave the colonel an ice pick
Popeyes is excellent, BUT they are spicy and that could over power the chicken goodness..
I like Popeyes, but I understand your concerns.
You dont want to kill the chicken flavor.
KFC has a bit of a dark taste to me, I don’t go much anymore.
Hartz has a wonderfully clean and sparkling taste and the side dishes make KFC look cheap. My favorite fast food chicken place by far.
Heb Deli is the best of the grocery store chicken and is better than any other, including Hartz.
As far as sit down with your date chicken dinners, La Madeline has Rosemary Chicken. To die for. Will knock your socks off. Red wine is the way to go on this one, not white.
I love Freeper Fried Chicken threads.
Does anyone know of a Fried Chicken and Waffle place in Houston?
The subject came up several weeks ago and I can’t wait to try it.
Houston?
We need fried chicken an waffles in Dallas
I have considered opening such a place.
I’ll drive to Dallas to eat at your chicken and waffle place if you open it.
Just had a Circle O sandwich there the other night!
Their coleslaw is very good though.
Seconded on the cole slaw.
I still prefer KFC original to Church's (other local chain) or Jollibee's. Haven't tried Popeye's lately. Tried it once and it was too "hot" (spicy) for me.
Breaking Bad Bump.
I miss that show. They were cutting edge for a few years. Then they were close to jumping the shark.
Wonder if they will return with new episodes?
Well, there is that, and my spicy rub is the best!! =:-)
I think, really, that it's "po-TAY-to" one day, and "po-TAH-to" the next. One day, KFC, the next, Popeye's. We all like variety. But I guess the Q is actually more to what you prefer on a majority basis.
Unfortunately, Dunnellon has one KFC and the nearest Popeye's is on Pine a half hour away. Distance makes the heart grow fonder, so I find myself, when not desiring to make my own, thinking Popeye's more than KFC, but go to KFC as it's closer. The Dunnellon KFC is really not a good place to get chicken, though. Not that I've ever had any bad food from there, but the ambiance of the place is an appetite killer.
Supposedly New episodes start airing in July on AMC...
